I have recently started up daily mindfulness of breathing and metta bhavana practice once again - this is about a 40min practice I am working my way up to including some of the AYP practices. After reading the AYP lesson on Samyama and Siddhi practice I am curious if the statements I am using in metta are akin to sutras and therefore a type of Samyama as I do this after mindfulness of breathing (for about 20mins). I often use statements like "May I be Happy" "May I be free" "May I be healthy" "May He be happy" etc...

Metta practice is one of the standard meditations taught at the local Buddhist sangha that I am a part of. It seems to be a practice that has a profound depth and I am trying to gain a deeper understand of how it works and the effect it has on my life.
