"The mileposts are useful to keep us going, to keep us inspired and regular in our daily practices."
I have experimented before with Samyama using the words Yogani suggests:
Love
Radiance
Unity
Health
Strength
Abundance
Wisdom
Inner Sensuality
Akasha – Lightness of Air
In times past I have not practiced very regularly or very deeply with these words, but in the last several days something has shifted. Where does this inspiration come from? Post retreat benefit perhaps? In any case I find my body/mind responding along the lines described here: http://www.aypsite.org/151.html
Yogani writes: "Picking sutras is not exact science. Commit to a good list for yourself and go with it. You can't wander too far off track if you stay with the basic range of meanings. There are plenty more in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, many far more abstract than the ones given here."
I found myself following an old Jim and his karma thread back to the samyama teachings in Patanjali's yoga sutras, and stumbled on this little gem:
"33. (By performing samyama) on the subtle light present in the head, the vision of the other accomplished yogis (siddhas) is obtained."
When I did that, something clicked in my relationship with Yogani's list. I saw that it was a good list, and found myself making a commitment to using it.

Over the past week I have been adding self-inquiry to my core samyama practice. Tonight I (re)read lessons 351 http://www.aypsite.org/351.html and 350 http://www.aypsite.org/350.html and now I sit here filled with a sense ecstatic bliss. Seems the time is ripe.
