Hello

I am having difficulty working on my Uni essays. Any suggestions, yogic techniques, diets, supplements, any suggestions of how to improve concentration? And or how to improve my essays work?

Love. x

I would always have the English department look over my work when I was in college. English PhD students would look at them for free and give feedback.

sure do.

The blood flow to your brain is absolutely crucial for energy levels + concentration + alertness. The combination of these three = quality work produced.

Your level of cognitive function varies with what is going on in your body and metabolism. For example, you probably notice you're less alert and more tired after eating a meal.

So how to improve?

Asanas - There's no need to travel to yoga class to do a few quick asanas which will energise you, increase blood flow to your brain, and give you a quick increase to your energy level. I do a 5-10 minute routine which involved the 5 tibetan rites and i'll integrate a few yoga postures. You can do this even if you feel tired, and it will wake you up. Just push yourself to do even 2-3 minutes, it doesn't have to be taxing, but do it every day, especially when you need to wake up. Visual instructions on the rites are here http://www.mkprojects.com/pf_TibetanRites.htm

Green juice/green smoothie for breakfast - I often have about a pint of green juice for my breakfast. I might have the juice of say spinach, green apple, celery and ginger. Ginger enhances your metabolism and improves/stimulates circulation. Instead of breakfast, have a pint of green juice, you'll find it easier to concentrate and have more energy.

Obviously don't consume junk food, cut out sugar and refined carbs as all these negatively impact your concentration.

In terms of supplements, omega 3 is awesome for concentration. Google it - omega 3 health benefits. But you need to get a high quality one or your might as well not bother - check the source of the omega 3, a high quality product will tell you which type of fish the supplement came from, it should be a wild fish, and they should be checking the fish for low mercury content.

Thats my two cents.

Antarctic Krill oil is a good kind of omega 3: less likely to have mercury, (should be tested anyway), and sustainable for the environment. I use one that has astaxanthin, recently found to be awesome for you eyes.

Hi 11jono11,

I have found with myself and others that I gave this to, that it helps tremendously to improve concentration while studying. It is a cd, part of a 3 cd set, called "Super focus and concentration" It utilizes binaural beats to take the brain to an alpha brain wave state.

From their website: "In one study, test scores were not only higher than normal, but were accomplished in only half the study time! In another, time spent studying was reduced 24% — while recall increased 26%!"

I am not afiliated at all with the sellers of this. Here is the webstite adress:

-the inversions, not least; if you prefer simple ones (such as lying at a wall and resting the legs up the wall) just make them longer or more frequent.

I love that inversion with legs against the wall! It's a good stretch and no effort required.

Hi Jono!

If you have not tried trataka I would highly recommend it...Just nothing crazy like staring at the sun.

I use to visusally gaze at a candle flame as a young lad and then visually re-create the image in my mind seeing how much detail I could reproduce.

Also playing chess, piano, tennis, ping pong or anything that requires concentration is beneficial. I never felt smarter and more concentrated than when I was playing tournament chess and learning to play piano.

I truly believe the ability to concentrate and focus your energy is the key to success in anything.

mr.anderson-

I tried the recipe of the green juice this evening...I think I got the ratio correct for all except the ginger-I went a little overboard...next time I trim off a smaller piece.
I love the flavor I especially love the smell of the celery and green apple. I am sure this will incorporate well into my plan of a better/healthy diet.
I am thankful to have utilized YOUR sharing and want to say that I could have gotten thousands of recipes from a book, but in my mind it is more better to have gotten it first hand from here.
I am fascinated by my lack of care for myself and fascinated how others care for themselves in a big way.
what makes me pick Mr. anderson at this particular time needs no explaination. I am just willing and willing to try.
