Hello folks!

During pranayama I normally sit in siddhasana with my my fingers loosely interlocking and resting in my lap. For a while I've been noticing a tendency for my hands to clench up a lot during the breathing, which creates tension in my arms and upper body. Recently I've experimented with just resting my hands seperately with palms facing upwards on either knee, which allows me to relax more. However, (I can't remember where I read this exactly, sorry) I heard that energy can escape the body through the palms, whether this is a bad thing or not I do not know.

So, I would be very grateful if one or two people would be able to suggest to me an "optimal", if such a thing exists, way of resting the hands during pranayama. My thanks in advance

Love and best wishes to all of you

Hi Wafu,

Do whatever is most comfortable, which will probably change over time. You can put you hands on your knees, palms facing down if you are concerned about energy loss. Another popular hand position you can use is chin mudra:

Hi Christi,

Thanks very much for your suggestions, sounds like good advice to me. I'll experiment a little.

All the best
