I am wondering if any of you can share about the benefits that you enjoy due to practicing meditation if any at all? What is that as a result from meditation manifests into your life which gives you some advantage or benefit at all? thanks |

Aauummm... Increased Focus, Reduction of Anxiety, Lowered Blood Pressure, Lowered Heart Rate, Reduction in Reactivity and Increase in Volitional Actions...
Less a Slave to the "tossings and turnings on the sea of emotions", Profound Stillness, Peace, and Bliss 24/7, Increasing Love for Others, Surviving Cancer, Peace of Mind, Being Able to Let Go of the "Incessent Question" that has no answer.
Everybody would, I imagine have similar but different experiences...

I actually have no idea if there are any benefits as such. That's a hard question because it needs context and perspective.
For a sailor, a calm sea might be of benefit, but without wind, how can he sail his boat? A fierce storm might endager his life, or it might blow him to the safety of a sheltered harbour in the nick of time because he had no food or water left aboard his vessel.
The only person who can truly answer the question is you. Just finding this website means it is already too late to turn back. You might start the AYP method or find another way, you might decide to give it a miss for a few years and then something will spark back into life. Whatever and however one thing is certain, before long somebody is going to be asking you exactly the same question

For me many aspects of my life and my relationships become more filled with love, and it's mainly due I think to how I relate to things, people, and situations that come up that before had me overwhelmed. I was really sad, low. My life is really taking off. It is becoming more happy and joyful. And today I felt some relaxation, which I don't know when I felt that kind of relaxation last time. Yes, karma yoga, service, is also becoming the norm with no hesitation. ecstatic conductivity. I believe the benifits add up gradualy if you practice consistantly. |

Suddenly you become awake... really awake.
And you realize (actually realize) that you were asleep all the time in your life.
The benefits related to body or mind are incomparable with this state. Because you are not in your body or mind. You are everywhere and nowhere. Or one can say its like being in the hands of God. Or a wave in an ocean. Or inside the mother's womb.
Then all you do in your life is... hahaha. |

I'm going to chime in here. As a pre-script, I've been meditating for 4 months now. 3 months spinal breathing. 1.5 months samyama. Tantra throughout. No mudras/bandhas until last week (except kechari stage 1, which is happening automatically during tantra).
On the one hand, I really want to believe that the practices here will produce the stated effects - an overflowing divine energy, as well as many other positive benefits. And on the other hand, I want to remain objective about any effects I experience because after all, this is a behavior with a big time commitment. So instead of listing the benefits, I will just list what is happenings.
What is definite 100% really objectively happening for me as a result of AYP:
I am calmer over all. Less stressed. Deep breathing and resting twice a day will do that. So nothing magical there.
I have drastically reduced several bad habits. Drugs, porn, video games. This is partially because I have much less time for these things since I'm meditating. And also because I want a clear mind to observe what is happening with this process. So nothing too magical here either.
I have had a few "high energy experiences" during practices (and one outside practices) in which bio-electric energy surges through my body. Like a mini psychedelic trip energy without the drugs. This is kind of magical. Even though I have no control over when these experiences occur.
Energy pulses coursing through my body throughout the day. Something with my electrical wiring is definitely happening - as evidenced by a bunch of localized twitches and jolts. They can happen just about anywhere in my body. They're not bothersome, and it happens maybe hundreds of times a day. Some times I notice more than others. But this is definitely real, and it definitely wasn't happening before.
So far, at the very least, meditation has definitely turned me into a twitching guy with occasional psychedelic mini-trips. Might sound bad, but I like it - I was paying money for drugs to do the same thing before.
What else? I'm just thinking of this stuff off the top of my head. So how about inner awareness and sensitivity. For example, if I close my eyes and take a few seconds, I can notice the feeling of my pulse anywhere in the core of my body, and sometimes in the extremities. I definitely didn't have that awareness before.
I'm definitely way more relaxed during sex, and lasting much longer. And also I don't get turned on randomly any more throughout the day. It takes more to get me started, but once I'm turned on, it is a much more profound experience. Which is both good and bad. I liked getting turned on at random before. But I also like getting turned on only at appropriate times now too. Not to mention tantric sex is just plain better. It's the difference between sex happening in my whole body versus just in my genitals. Score one for definite benefit.
When I began samyama, I began noticing small coincidences in life more often. Serendipitous curiosities started cropping up all over the place. This has died down a bit since then but when I first began, it was definitely a noticeable difference. Like something that was not there before (or not noticed) was now present.
And that brings me to manifestations in real life. It's hard to say whether something in day to day activity is a results of meditation or not. Because any changes seem to happen at a glacial pace. Just like the way that life changed before. From one day to the next, it doesn't seem like much has changed. But then a year goes by and things are quite different. So in this area my objectivity and skepticism remains. Life is ever changing. If I'm just attributing good changes to meditation, and ignoring other changes... well I've just taken a placebo pill called meditation. And since I can never know what life would have been like if I hadn't been meditation, there is no control. So this part has just got to be on faith. Perhaps with more time the effects in daily activity will become more starkly obvious.
In this vein, one thing that has definitely happened for me is that god has come back into my life. By which I mean I had been intellectualizing the idea of god since I was 14 (when I left the catholic church) until I began yoga. If you asked me 5 months ago if I believed in god, I would have given you some lecture about god and argued over the meaning of the word. And if you asked me today, I'd say yes, because I've experienced it.
In the lessons the "first stage" of enlightenment milestones is the dawn of the witness. I have experienced the witness for a few minutes in my life. Each time it has been directly following one of the high energy experiences I talked about above. And I can't say that I've had a dawn of that state happening so far. I've been able to observe my thoughts and behaviors from a detached state for a long time. And that's not quite what I think of as the witness state. Witness to me is more like a state where the body-mind is this automatic tool for the spirit. When I've experienced the witness, "I" have become an "it" and "god" has become "I" if that makes any sense. It is like I become god observing my self. And in so doing my self becomes infinitely more intelligent and useful and present. I'm babbling.
Anyway. Something real is happening that wasn't going on before. And on the whole it feels neutral most of the time - with some really good stuff thrown in there. As it says in the lessons, you don't have to believe it will work. Doing the practices produces the effects. And that's the only way I would want it. I don't want to live off in some placebo fantasy land, so I'm just doing the practices, and seeing what happens. 9 days out of 10 it seems like nothing is happening. But every once in a while I keep getting a reminder that these practices are real in effect, at least in some ways.
Thanks for reading if you made it this far. JDH |

Greater freedom and happiness, no matter what's happening in my life. Before AYP, there was a sense of "waiting for life to start" (or really get good). Now there's no more waiting around. There's a certain level of contentment and calmness, even when life is rough. And believe me, it's rough
There's also a stability and strength that wasn't here before. I'm finding I'm more self-reliant. I trust myself, so there's no more seeking things from other people (validation, happiness, acceptance, love, attention, etc.). And I accept people just the way they are.
AYP also got me out of depression, and helped me get off drugs and anxiety medication.
I'm only scratching the surface here.

Hi JDH - I can't help but comment on your time-line, I know we each have a unique one, but that sounds like serious over-loading to me . Are you feeling ok? I wait at least a year before adding on a new practice, some months for little add-ons (bandas, mudras) and still I have to struggle with over-load.
To the original question - it's the outpouring of divine Love and joy that keeps me at this. |

Hi Sey thanks for you concern.
I had been wondering about what a "normal" time line was like just earlier tonight! I almost wrote a post asking about it.
As to how I'm feeling about all these practices, here's what I'll say. It takes a lot to rock my boat these days. I used to take large doses of psychedelics to intentionally overload my body with energy. And following that period, I had a spell of panic attacks which are like energy overloads of pure fear and negativity. And then about 6 months prior to starting AYP, I had (what I assume was) one full power kundalini surge out the top of my head and face while meditating on my sexual energy (hasn't come back since).
So, seemingly impossible energy flows have been the norm for a while now and I no longer lose my head (for very long ) when it happens. So I don't really self-pace the high energy experiences, as long as they're temporary.
I feel normal outside of practices (apart from the little localize energy spurts that I mentioned, which just fade into the background). In fact I wish more were happening and I've had to be very patient not to add all these things even faster than I have. Had one headache, self paced for a few days, and then back to normal. I've been looking out for my limit and I haven't found it (I have a feeling it will be whenever kundalini becomes active again).
Thanks for mentioning it though. I will stay where I'm at for a few months to make sure things are stable. Could I ask you - how do you experience overload? What is it that I should be looking out for? |

How do I experience overload? I feel heavy headed and drowsy all day long; kinda dizzy too.. too much energy in the head; irritable, out of sorts for no apparent reason. If I just close my eyes my head and body start rocking back and forth, round and round like in chin pump.

Everyone is different in terms of their time-line. It depends very much on what you have been doing before in this life and in previous lives. When I started AYP I progressed through the practices about the same speed as you are doing, without any problems. The important thing is to find a pace that is right for you.

Something breaks down. It is the wall between the self and the other. When it breaks down, there is love.
