I am thinking of joining a health club, one reason being all off your recommendations to get out and do something different and get some exercise. One thing that has attracted me about the local clubs is that they offer classes in Pilates, Yoga, aerobics, etc.
Since i am trying to stick with the AYP progression of lessons, would it be premature to partake of the Yoga and Pilates (energy-based/yoga-related) classes? I have noticed that Hatha Yoga is further up the line in the scheme of things for AYP practices.
Some places also offer other styles of yoga along with Hatha....Vinyasa, i think?
Not premature at all. It's all connected and integrated from the many types of yoga as it says all over the lessons. The key is to keep your twice daily breathing and meditation as the core of your practice. Just self pace any classes you take as necessary and it will be fine. Self pace here could mean your own physical boundaries (flexibility, aerobic fitness, etc) as well as energy overload.
