We are the waves, God is the Ocean?
We come and go but the Ocean remains.
The Ocean is all that is, all that has ever been and all that will ever be. The Ocean is our true self. Its infinite qualities are our true qualities while the limits we experience now are limits of the wave. What do you think?

What if the wave is imagining the rest of the ocean? Point to ponder

If the wave is imagining the rest of the ocean then there is no wave. Which I guess is true as well.

God is the entirety. So we all might as well just relax. All the way.

Of course there's no wave. It's just a metaphor. But what good is a metaphor unless it helps explain something? Are you trying to say we don't really exist? maybe I'm missing something here? Or is this like those Zen koans that are supposed to make you quit thinking?

You might be missing something here, Ether. You brought non-existence up, not Chiron. He merely responded to your question about whether the Ocean is non-existent/imaginary. His response, which I think is a good one, is that if the ocean is imaginary, so is the wave.

He's not making any mistakes along the lines of not realizing a metaphor is a metaphor either.

One meaning you can take from 'if the ocean is imaginary, so is the wave', is that that if the wave is real, so is the ocean. Or, since it is only a metaphor, if the observer is real, so is the observed.

I think I will just illustrate my thoughts on This with a poem:

BALANCE

I used to think that balance in life
was all about staying stable
To never explode in fear or rage
To always smile and be able

But balance is more about stepping off stage
To keep still and be my own audience
I see that although I have much to applaud
I have also been guilty of fraud

It is evident then, that lifes pandemonium
all takes place up there on the podium
And nothing of what I do up there
holds the key to my own equilibrium

So do not worry about ups and downs,
successes, failures and flops
Do not think you alone can direct your own show
and least of all how it stops

Balance, of course, is harmony,
that much I do understand
I love to unveil the beauty of sound,
and the heat coming out of my hand

A drop of rain sums this up very neatly:
The context is always the same
Yet that simple fact eludes me completely
when I hunt for wealth and fame

I look at my watches, clinging to structure,
not hearing that rythm and rhyme
already exist quite balanced in nature
It has nothing to do with time

Have you ever thought of the ocean as smaller
when a wave, dying down, comes ashore?
It's the same with balance, it cannot get taller,
does not know the concept of "more"

Nothing at all is less than it was
prior to intent and motion
And if I expand from inside out
I must also allow for implotion

This, alone, makes my heart sing in joy
This means it's enough just to Be
And although my intellect figured it out,
life is still such a mystery to me
