Hi everyone,
I found a great and complete website on fasting. http://www.allaboutfasting.com/index.html It offers information about each type of fasting and all the tips to undergo a successful fast. I strongly recommand it to those who feel inclined to take a break, for health reasons or simply for spiritual reasons.. or both! Personally, i started a water fasting since yesterday evening. It's not gona be easy for me, as i don't have much stored fat.. So, i will rely on my practices, the sun, and my surrender to God. After 15 hours now, i'm already feeling the detox effect.. and the emotional one has started now.. It's been years i've been eating vegetarian food, and the body is relatively clean, so the process seems to work quickly and deeply..

Good site Christine, thanks for letting us know.
Best of luck with the fast, have done a few Grape fasts and found them great. Maybe I'll be inspired to do another.
Water only seems fairly radical, how long will you do it for? |

Hi Louis :)
Yes, water is the most radical one.. it is harder for bodies which already carry lots of toxins due to poor eating habits.. I've experimented with different short term fasts in the past.. like wheatgrass juice. Also did 1 month on brown rice only.. but this one was before my yoga/vegetarian change.. i had fat and enough toxins to burn! Now, the effect will be much more quick and intense.. i'll try to do it for 3 days.. and see if i don't feel too down, i'll continue till 5 days.. starting from the 5th day, there is a rebuilding of the immune system.. anyway, they say the first 3 days are the most difficult.. after that, the symptoms settle down.. i won't push it beyond my limits.. but the faith and will are strong, and until now, the side effects are moderate.. with no hunger.. and each sip of water taste really good.. it is a great opportunity to 'look' IN, and experience the body and beyond in a deeper way.. i can already feel that.. also, there are some tips that help, like sun bathing, dry skin brushing (i did it minutes ago, it was very stimulating for the energy), deep meditation and pranayamas.. Most important is to avoid any negative disturbance.. keep focused on the inner experience.. and tune to higher beings..
To be continued...

ok.. After 2 days and a half of water fasting, i finally decided to give up this morning. The heart felt too weak, and the blood pressure was too low.. Though i didn't experience major detox symptoms, the energy level dropped too low. So i had some juices in the morning and the heart came back to 'life'. i could feel each molecule in the juices i drunk. I felt life in the tiniest drop of juice.. Everything felt more alive around me.. and it was a great experience of detachment from the mind for 2 days.. there was a withdrawal to the inner, in a deeper dimension than usual. U speak less, go to the essential, without any emotion.. and people around felt that peace.. Total surrender and acceptance happened naturally.. Deep let go of any residual negative thoughts/patterns resulted in expanded love and heart.. and that felt really great So today, after the juices.. i felt i could eat solid food. I went through it gradually.. from raw to little more heavy food. I ate consciously, watching each call from the body.. and i was surprised to see that what i ate was intuitively chosen in order to nourrish the heart, first.. then, came all the other tastes and energies, nourrishing all the other organs.. Tomorrow, i will continue on whole grains, mainly with little vegetables. This is a much more smoother way of fasting that brings balance, peace of mind and clarity. but overall, i feel grateful for the inner journey i went through.. and sure i will repeat it again in the future.. Now i know how it feels to eat nothing for 2 days! This brings much awareness and humility towards those who don't have enough food to eat everyday..

Hi Christiane,
For you the colon cleansing kit might be a good product. http://www.blueherbs.co.uk/shop/pc/...?idproduct=1
It involves fasting on only clear apple juice (preferably fresh), vegetable broth (without the vegies) and water. Believe it or not after 3 days at it i did not feel like drinking the juice and broth any more and went on with water only for another couple days. If my holiday did not end I would continue until day 7 or 8 as felt that good so definitely recommend it--but if you say you don't have any fat to burn it may not be as suitable for you. |

hello Lili :)
yeah, I think years ago i could have done it.. but now, i'm really on the verge! I'm not skinny but if i loose 1 more pound, i will be! Still need this body to carry on! Lots of things to achieve in this life ;)
But the short water fast taught me some deep things. Also now, my whole grains fast feels like a feast, not a fast! Whole grains are God's food.. Each mouthful i chew - until liquid - is like eating a bite from Heaven.. reconnected to the true hunger again.. and the body says "thank you!"
Good training for the mind as well!
