Last night I couldn't sleep due a barrage of spiritual insights. Around 2:30 am I was exhausted. I thought to myself, " I wish this would stop so I can sleep." Then I rolled over on my left side to try and fall asleep. At that instant a very sharp feminine voice said what sounded like either Koonduhara or come to hara. I felt the voice through out my body. It was so sudden and unexpected that it shocked me wide awake. I suppose it could have been more purification stuff, but it was very strange. I'm hoping it didn't mean come to Hara as in Harrah's Casino seeing as I don't gamble and Las Vegas is a long ways form Japan. |

hi Steven, and thank you for sharing.
to be honest and straight with you and speaking from a whole life which was filled with similar experiences like the one you just shared... it's all just purification and scenery and you should not get too caught up in it... but sometimes it's a way to learn new lessons or to point you toward a certain way like perhaps this case of yours...
concerning the hara, it's the spiritual heart and Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi says that it is located to the right side while others say (like the suffis and some yogis) that it's the sheath of bliss which is a little point located at the right side of the physical heart... and concerning my own personal experience with the whole thing, if you start the purification work from the right it will eventually lead all the way towards the sheath of bliss at the physical heart...
btw the prophet Muhamad says that one should sleep on his right side... and logic says that if you sleep on your right side your heart will be more at rest...

Ask your inner guru to show you the meaning, then let it go and forget about it. Sometimes it takes days or weeks to get an answer, then it will be in front of you, plain as day. What is funny is that you must forget the question because it helps bring the answer. So when you get the answer sometimes it takes a while to remember that you had asked the question and to connect the two.
PS is it normal for you to think in English? |

Thanks for the advice Ananda, and Etherfish. I figured it was just one of those really vivid purification experiences, but when I hear voices like that with distinguishable words or phrases I get curios about the meaning. That is very interesting about hara meaning spiritual heart. I wonder if there is a linguistic connection with the English word "heart"? In Japanese "hara" means stomach.
"PS is it normal for you to think in English?"
Yeah, I'm American, but I'm a terrible and extremely sloppy typist as you probably noticed from my original post. Japanese sometimes creeps into my dreams even though I don't speak it very well. It's really strange to wake and realize I've been dreaming in Japanese, but understood everything perfectly. |

Hey Steven,
I've had similar experiences on a couple of occasions recently. Once while in DM, I heard a female voice say my name, as clearly and loudly as if they were talking directly into my ear at exactly the time I was supposed to end my meditation (ie the 20min mark)...it was ~5am and everyone in the house was still alseep...
And a couple of weeks ago, I was woken up in the middle of the night by the same female voice saying my name, loud enough that I sat bolt upright and answered "What?" because I thought it was my wife trying to wake me up. She was sound asleep and then I went and checked all my kids' rooms because I thought maybe they had been calling me...of course they were all asleep as well...
Definitely signs of purification...but if you do head to Vegas let me know and maybe I'll meet you out there...you can introduce your "invisible woman" to my "invisible woman" |

Now that's weird.I had a couple of experiences with a female voice shouting my name when I was about 16. It only happened twice and like others it seemed like my sister or mum calling my name but wasn't.
This was years and years ago, before I took too, or even knew about anything spiritual. |

Another thing you can look at is what you have been conscious of the day before and the day after this happened. Often your subconscious mind puts together pieces of reality from yesterday and tomorrow into a dream. I know you were awake, but a dream state can occur when you are idle like that even though awake. Don't ask how it is possible to put a piece of tommorrow into a dream; I have just found it to be true. And no, it is not what you expect tomorrow to be, it is something unique that you don't expect. If you remember dreams or write them down you will find this occasionally.

Just for the heck of it I did a google search for Kundahara. Found a novel with that title written in Bengali by an author named Buddhadeba Guha. Weird semi-synchronicity. I'm a Buddhist and a novelist, though an unpublished as of yet. Sadly, I don't read Bengali. |
