For me, it's hard to say just yet... but something is definitely opening up in my practice. I'm starting to feel as though we're moving towards more consciousness rather than less. I do feel more supported than I did a month ago.
Personally, I'm optimistic about 2012, but not convinced of anything one way or another. |

I had always thought that AYP was sort of a retreat and protection from all the turmoil that is happening as spiritual energy increases approaching 2012. But last night I realized it is not just protection, it is THE ANSWER to what is going on in the world.
It's ironic that I put the final pieces together after watching on youtube the unlikeliest of sources, Louis Farrakhan. For those of you in other countries, he is a black religious leader in the US who is looked down upon by the media, and consequently the majority of society for being too racist, militant, etc.
Then after watching Farrakhan I realized that we are not powerless. In his interview he said world leaders are just figureheads, and the powers behind them control them. They asked him who he thought could solve this problem. He said the problem is deeper than who is president. The underlying structure of the government needs to be overhauled.
He said the only one who can save us is the Mahdi or the Christ. he said the bridegroom is coming and the bride has dirtied herself with adultery by getting in bed with the world. The bridegroom must wash away her sins.
Later I realized that IS the answer I was looking for.
The new Yogananda book The Second Coming of Christ is all about that second coming being within the individual, that thinking the answer is outside yourself is old school.
There is all kinds of stuff in scriptures about a final battle between good and evil and everyone thinks of something physical like other stories in the bible, where God and Satan are huge and people form armies. But the battle is already being fought and it is within us.
Each group blames the evils of the world on their enemies;
Democrats are fighting Republicans, Muslims are fighting Christians and Jews, the poor are fighting the rich, Capatalism is fighting Socialism. All of that distracts from the real evil epitomized by men when they dehumanize and take advantage of the weak, the old, the poor, the ignorant, but this evil exists within all of us in the form of believing illusion and the world rather than following our highest ideal within.
So just as it has been proven that a hundred people meditating can have an effect on distant evil, this is the time for all people to unite in silence and overcome the great evil without fighting, and 2012 could very well be the end of that battle. If enough people wake up and bring up inner silence, the evil powers will fade away.
I don't know if the battle is to be won, or the two sides separated, but the answer is the same either way: it's all scenery, continue your practices, and spread the word that we are not in conflict with each other. |

The WORD? Yeah, when I read the prologue to the book of John in the bible, I thought immediately about mantra meditation.
I'm supposing that eventually we are carried from duality to non-duality as something in the silence, beyond the mantrum, takes over. Perhaps that something is called grace?

anyone notice that the new hurricane has dropped 61 Mb's in a 24 hour period of time, that putts it 9mb's above the second fastest growing one which was a few years ago. It gained 85 MPH in 24 hours, crazy crazy stuff. we also had a storm stregthen while over land and gustav was in the top five fastest growing storms, luckily it fizzled quite a bit before it hit the US. I pray for this storm to release it's energies in a non destructive manner with as few lives being affected as possible.

the interesting part in the article is that they say it is safe. THey are going into unknown territory, how do they know it is safe? What happens even if they do create a universe in the tube? we will have test tube universes? It still wont solve the riddle, existence had to exist for existence to be possible. The big bang is not the end all, something existed for the big bang to be possible. The best machine to figure out this stuff? The human mind/body/soul.

Personally I think 2012 will be the year of the "cultural collapse". The year when we collectively realize we have to start living differently or we won't be living at all.

Interesting thread. I hope you're right Carson. Also I've heard that is the year on which the ancient Mayan calendar mysteriously just ends. Anywho, I try to take it all with a grain of salt. If there is a shift in global consciousness I tend to think it will be more subtle or of a different order than we may expect. Or it may be totally cataclysmic over which I am pretty much powerless.
So for now I will keep doing what I believe to be the best for myself/others while keeping an open/alert mind for any learning opportunities.
Frankly, I prefer the year 2112 as it is the name of a RUSH album. Those guys rock mightily.

We're always breaking the Covenant, and it's always being offered to us again.
If we understand these things timelessly, we understand them properly I say. If we take them in a literal, time-based manner, we'll fall into problems.
I've being saying for years that I think a major economic downturn could be coming. But I don't see that in apocalyptic terms. It's just one of those things. One of my expectations is that, if there is a great economic downturn, there will be an explosion of popular irrational mass-movements. Prophets popping up all over the place with their own explanations of what magic god-bullet we need to fire to fix everything. They won't necessarily be explicitly religious, but they'll be operating from and firing the old, comforting but unreliable, atavistic, sacromythical mechanisms in the human psyche.
If any of you do find rising inner silence, do us all a big favor and don't pour this new wine into the old wineskin of irrational, sacro-mythical mass movements. If you do, both wine and wineskin will be lost. Verily I say unto ye!
Excuse me now while I wipe the froth from my mouth. That's enough of the atavistic, prophet dance-number for me now today!

..... I'd enjoy reading anything that might help me to enjoy such biblical poetry. (I have only the most superficial christian understanding but somehow I keep hoping to red "yoga" into christian/jewish imagery.)

I have heard that greater than 50% of the population will be motivated by love instead of fear. That doesn't mean that there is no fear, it just means primary motivation is changed. Hence, more of us will have rising energy at least somewhat into the heart area.
I like to think that evolution is slowly taking its toll. I can't prove this, or no of any links, but I believe that one day we will all be bathed in light. We will eventually lose (in this order) taste and smell, and then sight. All we feel/be is warm, vibrational, light energy. Thoughts will be tossed around as snipits of energy.
Like in AYP, one can be completely connected to the source in practice and then one wakes up to receive the world out of practice. Maybe it would be something like that. Being able to exist in different worlds at your own will.
Maybe I'm just an optimist. However, there may be world shifts which cause great pain/suffering in the upcoming century. BUT, heaven is inside you and you will be able to help those who don't realize it yet. The intention will change.

There are more prophets popping up because there are more people, a larger population then ever before in history. I bet if you really look at any data you could find on the subject you would probably find that the guru to population percentage over the course of time has probably stayed relatively flat. I don't know this for sure, but that is MY inclination. I like this quote from Borowski:

I don't know about all that 2012 prediction stuff. But, I do know that 2012 may as well be a marker for how critical we are offsetting the balance in the world. Perhaps its when the tipping point is reached? Or has it already?

It's weird to read stuff I have written years ago. Even if it was only two years ago like this quote of mine above. It seems like such a dream....like a whole 'nother life.
I don't still think that 2012 will be a "cultural collapse". Now, I don't pretend to have any clue as to what may happen....not tomorrow, not in 2012. Taking things one day at a time now, and am plenty happy doing it.  My, what a difference just two years of twice daily AYPractices makes.

people are becoming more concious about life,their health, options, where they live,what they eat(examine what u eat),how they act
more earth friendly though....because mother earth have been crying a long time since God placed us here.she's taking back now slowly but surely...nature balances

I see there is some discussion about science and technology above
those who wants to know about technology.....examine the clothes you wear...made from plastic to every item in your household....to since u was born....
the thing about science well both my son and I would have been dead if it wasn't for science (c-section)
At no point in time is anybody is to make a decision about human life unless you are a doctor,united nations,(other bodies) about trying to choose or save anyone lives.However are entitled to your opinion. A positive thought and words goes a realllllly long way.
The universal mother has brought me down on my knees when I realize the person sitting next to me spent their energies and time trying to kill someone.
The naughty ones unkind acts/deed ....don't worry the universal mother knows everything u do and say.....nothing goes unseen....
Any kind act towards humanity life-saving etc is greatly appreciated by the universal mother(god).
Any kind act to help clean up the environment is noticed....even if the person in front of you just littered....make them aware and pick it up.
Men need to bear kids....
someone said people are not vaccinating their kids.....they can be legally prosecuted if it is not in line with state laws and child rights.
People need to be more loving and less self absorbant,less ignorant and more considerate about others and their well being.
We need to love,share,care, respect each other and their cultures.
By educating others,sharing your views experiences we realize the world don't always rotate around us.
