Thankyou Dharma Mitra for the very interesting stuff, especially about
peeing. Someone told me once that men tend to sit down to pee in
India --- I don't know if its true, but I could see reasons for it now.

I would tend to say actually 'maybe not' to the snugly-fitting
knickers. The testicles hang from the body because they need lower
temperatures for their health and function. The above thing 'works'
because, basically, it stops the testicles functioning healthily.
If you do do this, above all make SURE you take them off at night.
Testicles which are permanently warm become permanently damaged. This
can destroy fertility. This is not a joke.
With some sort of comic coincidence, I seem to be taking the role of
genitals-protector in the recent posts. :)

I am curious about what a langot is. I have never heard of it. Does
it have some function to supposedly reduce sex-drive?

a langot is a triangular piece of cloth worn much like a thong underwear. it is probably similar to what sumo wrestlers of japan wear. it also may be similar to what ramana maharshi used to wear. indian wrestlers and sports persons also wear it. it is the common man's sport supporter. i do not think it has any special function to reduce sex drive except for the fact that it binds you extremely tightly but in books about brahmacharya and spiritual life it is invariably mentioned.
