I have read some of the posts of learned people on this site.
I'm 52 years old, have started regular meditation after many years. Was in a sexless marriage for way too long, no longer in that, with a wonderful healthy relationship. However.... sometimes I have difficulty getting erect and have a very difficult time having an orgasm - it just takes super long when I get erect. Indeed the pills like Viagra work but I don't want to use them. There is nothing physically wrong with me.
There is however something wrong with me mentally and spiritually.
I am hoping and praying someone can guide me on how to get the energy back in the right place to allow for nature to take it's course. I am also a martial artist so very aware of what we call Chi energy and feel it when we break bricks and do certain things.
However once again, I am convinced with proper meditation and moving energy in the right place, etc... and even self-hyp0nisis or some other mantra, I can regain what I had.
Otherwise it makes no sense. The mind is what controls the impulses to tell the body to send blood to the penis, etc... we all know that. I want to be able to meditate on that area, understand it and get control of it, or influence it.
If ANYONE has experience with this - please guide me.. Thank you so much for any help whatsoever... |

While it is nice that you have the desire to take action to cure your problem, you are on the wrong website altogether. You haven't really discounted the physical angle to the problem before jumping to mind over matter conclusions. Getting an erection requires adequate testosterone, nitrous oxide release, blood vessel dilation and neurotransmitters action. Problem in any of these areas can cause erectile dysfunction. Atherosclerosis of the blood vessels which causes heart problems also causes erectile problem by the blood vessels not dilating enough. While you should work with a doctor, also bear in mind that most urologists, endocrinologists are chair-warmers who tend to discount most erectile problems as psychogenic i.e. caused by the mind. I would suggest you to do your own research and find a good doctor who actually looks at the non-psychogenic angle by ordering required blood tests. A good place to get support and advice from fellow sufferers is www.peaktestosterone.com which also has a discussion forum. They discuss not only testosterone related but also all the other issues affecting erection such as the ones I mentioned. |

FakeYogi makes a strong point. The erection process is complex and a host of physical, mental, and psychological issues can derail the process, not to mention the age eventually takes it toll. Three years ago I had my cancerous prostrate removed which requires severing the nerves responsible for erection. I was in excellent health otherwise and had no erectile problems before the operation. I was told it would be a few years for the nerves to reconnect, and there was a chance I would not return fully to what I had. Not ready to throw in the towel, I learned everything I could about the mechanics behind arousal and established a daily therapy to address my physical, mental, emotional, and psychological needs. (See my thread "tantra rehabilitation").
Sure enough, after two years, 95 percent of function returned. By devoting effort on arousal and the arousal response I am in a better place than before surgery and a better lover for my wife. Arousal is circulating prana after all. There is something to be said about devotion toward improvement and putting your focused attention to achieving a goal. But first rule out anything physical that my be to blame. There are also sexual medicine specialists available to assist you.
Good luck! |

This is a recent problem and since you're a 52 year old martial artist I doubt this applies: but if you're using pornography and masturbating, you should stop these things. Lots and lots of young men are starting to suffer from erectile dysfunction at the age of 20 and it's becoming an epidemic. |

Well, first of all, I would reduce the frequency of your ejaculations. I think as fasting can restore your appetite for healthy foods, abstaining from ejaculation can cure a "broken" libido. Beyond that, I wouldn't try to force anything. Just do the practices and deal with things as they come up, and the sexual aspect of your health will likely take care of itself (of course, stimulating practices like siddhasana and cupping the genitals during practice, as Yogani describes, may be of particular help in your case--but don't underestimate the erotic power of sambhavi, either!). |

Meat, spices (garlic ++, ginger, cumin, black pepper, coriandre, cinamon...) porn and regular masturbation without ejaculation. You will raise a lot of sexual energy in those areas. But this is not a spiritual way of life :) |
