From "Kundalini Tantra" by Nityananda Saraswati p. 184:
"(paraphrasing)...besides producing nectar, bindu chakra also produces poison...But as long as bindu and vishuddhi are stimulated at the same time, there is absolutely no danger..."
p.176 "...between bindu and vishuddhi, there is another smaller psychic center known as lalana chakra(aka the secret spot). When the nectar trickles down from bindu, it is stored in lalana. This center is like a glandular reservoir situated at the back of the nasopharynx, the inner cavity above and beyond the soft palate into which the nasal passage opens. When you perform kechari mudra, you stimulate lalana chakra and the flow of nectar.
Although this fluid is known as nectar, it can act as a poison as well as a nectar. When it is produced in bindu and stored in lalana, it is neither poison or nectar. As long as vishuddhi chakra remains inactive, this fluid runs downward to be consumed by manipura chakra, resulting in the processes of decay, degeneration and finally death in the body's tissues.
However, by performing kechari mudra, nectar is secreted from lalana and passes to vishudhi chakra, the purifying and refining center. When vishuddhi is awakened, the divine fluid is retained and utilized, becoming the nectar of immortality. The secret of youth and regeneration of the body's tissues lies in the awakening of Vishuddhi...."
So is 'poison' to be used literally, or does it simply mean that it doesn't really benefit to have the nectar flowing until vishudhi(throat I think) chakra is also active, so the body can really make use of it?.
I also put an interesting extract from this book under the post "Physiological Effects of Kechari" for those interested... |
