I thought I was subscribed to this thread. Now I see there are more replies. I must admit that I also think a lot of porn is degrading to women and men. I think they are primitive in the way they have sex many times. Eg having to go at 100 MPH and whatever else. But I found a few that appeal to me. I even found a video that teaches Tantric sex. Which is nice and slow.
Seriously I started this medication and I pretty much lost my sex drive HAHAHA Oh well so much for that. But I think it can be done right. It definitely takes a certain kind of person to do it and to be able to do it. So yeah. But I am still meditating everyday.
Re: the view that porn is degrading to women, etc., and whether or not it might be useful in yogic practice. I am by no means an expert on the subject, having only seen maybe half a dozen movies. The first one I saw was "The Coven" which was recommended by a female friend. I thought it was quite tasteful and balanced and not degrading towards women; it involved beautiful couples having a mutually enjoyable time in nice outdoor settings. However, I then watched a few more movies and was VERY disappointed as I found them degrading to women, the men were not handsome, and it was not at all erotic for me. But I think there is no reason in principle that porn has to be vile or degrading; I wish there were more like "The Coven." Well recently my husband and I were given the opportunity to create our own x-rated videos online; we would have full creative power and could do exactly what we wanted! It was very tempting and we thought about doing tasteful/spiritual/sensual tantric stuff. However, due to all the recent scandals in the yoga community we decided against it just in case somebody would find out and it would look very bad for our yoga school... I actually think such a film would be helpful for couples who are not sure how to go about it or who feel awkward and/or need a little inspiration.
