Hi, my name is Rad. I'm new here. I'm addicted to masturbating, I do it 3-4 times a day. I came upon this site because I heard that pranayama can help transform sexual energy.
I'm looking for a way to channel my sexual energy in a healthy way and stop masturbating to porn. Where should I start? I already meditate, do EFT tapping and do Yin yoga on a daily basis.
Can you guys show me some resources to show me practical daily practices that I can use to help transform my sexual energy? Any books? Is pranayama helpful? I'm new to this whole thing, please help me out.
I've started on a blog that will be my journal about my transformation of my sexuality here : http://www.intimacywithfear.com |

Hi Rad, welcome and I think you have come to the right place. Maybe the place to start is to look at masturbation in a different light. Try enjoying the pleasure without it being goal oriented. For the time being enjoy your porn, enjoy your self pleasure but try to delay ejaculation as a practice. make your masturbation tantric even if it is frustrating at first. Train yourself to go for longer stretches, maybe allow release every 2 days to start, build up to a week, that sort of thing. When I first experimented with this stuff it seemed foreign to me but I can remember the feeling of energy and magnetism that I felt inside after going for that first week. It was a new feeling that I had never had before and it really made a difference! Women also seemed to notice as well so that is an additional side benefit. It can be compared to having a full or empty bank account. You can choose when you spend but if you have an empty account then you have less to share. Try not to get obsessive about it but this is a good way to start. Also read the tantra lessons on here from the beginning and you will get a good overview and certainly pranayama is a wonderful practice so it seems that you are on the right track! |

Hi rad, on the left hand side, under "Key Lessons" follow the link "Start Lessons Here" and you'll come across pranayama in no time. The topic index is also found on the main page here (AYP home) the very top, making for easy navigation through the lessons. It is recommended to always follow pranayama with meditation, so if you're jumping ahead to that, you could simply add the meditation you are already doing after pranayama, and take it from there. |

Hi Rad,
Thank you so much for your honest post!
When it comes to an addiction of the kind you are talking about, my experience is that yoga and meditation alone will not go the whole way! It's not only about a behavioural change, to stop acting out dysfunctional sexual behaviours. The changes you will have to take goes into your whole personality, since the "addict" in you is built of a whole set of thoughts, emotions, logic and reaction patterns. I have discovered this for myself. After 7 years of AYP, I found out that I needed to address the addictive patterns in me - for real! It is finally getting me forward, thanks to the combination with AYP and a 12-step program, which is also a support system, where you are never alone!
I'd strongly recommend to join a 12-step program. SLAA (Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous) is available in many places, and is also available on internet. The 12-step program is recommended in AYP (for any kind of addiction) since it is a beautiful combination of going deep into self-inquiry, refining the sexual energies and surrender to a Higher Power.
