I wrote this a few weeks ago....and finished it today:

To not be a wound

To not be a wound
is all-encompassing;
It is all-consuming

To not be a wound
is dark and heavy;
a drag, a debt

To not be a wound
is terribly quiet;
a terror, a truce

To be a wound
is a deathly stench;
It is raw and ruthless

Yet:
Please do not cover me
Please keep looking
Please let me be

The space; the air,
the touch; the stare,
is how I,

through me,

will heal

Beautiful Katrine, raw and ruthless.

This has penetrated deep into my being and reminds me of seeing a physically deformed or disabled person who has accepted their lot and radiates a love and acceptance that makes it possible for everyone else to accept them.
We are all disabled and deformed inside and accepting our wound and laying it bare, is healing for all of us.
