I have just increased the Pranayama to 20 minutes to increase the ecstatic conductivity which was starting to fade somewhat on 10 minute sessions. I welcome Kundalini symptoms as that tells me what I am doing is working. Many years ago when I was doing TM rather indiscriminately I had symptoms rather like Bells palsy in which my face became partially paralysed on one side and I suffered bad headaches. I have had no bad experiences with ARP.

I have a lot of experience with TM myself. My experience is that it can be a very powerful and good technique but can have a lot of 'stress-release' side-effects, much more than other techniques do. I did have headaches at various times, but I felt that my system was adjusting positively at those times and they did pass away.
Of course TM is just a mantra-yoga technique.

All my emphasis was on concentration rather than attention I was forcing all thoughts out of my head and mentally shouting the mantra, so TM wasn't to blame it was me.

The only side effect I remember was getting a headache sometimes if I had a sudden loud interruption to a meditation.
A few years ago, when not practicing it at all, I realized that TM actually helped a great deal when I had a migraine. I tried meditation just on the chance it might help.
When I started getting migraines more frequently, I started back in my meditation practices on a regular basis. I haven't needed any migraine meds since beginning the AYP practices regularly. That is only one of the pleasant side effects...

What the 'TM' organization calls TM is an ancient meditation technique sometimes called 'mantra yoga' in India. Yogani's lesson 13 is basically this technique.

David's reply is right on. To do TM you have to pay a hefty fee and learn the technique from a trained TM teacher. It is a wonderful experience and good meditation, but it is the same meditation technique that you'll find in Yogani's lessons. You might just be using a different mantra.
In my humble opinion, you are better off studying the AYP lessons and doing the AYP meditation. After you get that down, you can add the spinal breathing, and then more as you progress.
I asked Yogani in an email when I first started the AYP mediation if I could just use my TM mantra since it was so similar to what he was teaching. In a very kind and thorough reply he suggested that the mantra in the AYP would take us farther along our path than what we might have learned in TM.
In light and love,
Kathy

It was (and still is?) by the way, the practice of the TM organize to tell you that the intructor was trained (in a secret method) to determine a mantra, individually tailored for your 'energies'. Sometimes this was used to explain why you should pay the hefty fee (since this tailor-chosen mantra would surely be better for you).
In time it came out (through court documents and so on) that the TM instructors were simply given a table with mantras listed against age range. They simply looked up your age in a table and gave you the mantra listed against it.
When paying hefty fees, buyer beware!
