It is not required, some can awaken spontaneously without any interest in spirituality. AYP is a choice and is part of the whole, there is no separation from anything. I'm afraid your ego has appropriated your own awakening. Go within and seek your own answer we cannot help you, we can only consolidate it further.

Why do you associate "practices" with recognizing one's nature?

Very interesting point. Why chase an immortal body and omniscience if one realizes the freedom of the truth? Form rather than Freedom?

If one experiences such a desire, can one experience freedom?

You are right Jeff.

I think it is best to think of "Hinduism", for example, as many incompatible teachings.

This is reflected in the Blackwell Companion to Hinduism.

GogetaSwami,

Are you the same person who used the name Alwayson?
According to manigma you are... and he presents pretty good evidence.
Yes or No.

Religions are often not consistent. The mind is tricky.

But Truth (or Primordial Freedom) can also appear (or be) inconsistent. That is the truth of being totally free.

p.s. You can even experience powers if you want.

Yes the mind is active most of the time. I LOVE fatboy slim. He usually doesn't do a tribal beat like that. Sounds almost like Gionfriddo bros.
