the following is a "play" during giving condoleances. The characters are:the People (P), a person endowed with Viveka (VP) and a Jnani (J)

P: let us pray for her and read the following sutra...(they start reading)
VP: oh..here comes the conditioning... men pray according to the religion they were born and raised in
J: "the spirit of religion has gone out of religion. The more often you repeat words the less they mean anything to you..then the mere articulation of these words should be studioulsy avoided" (Swami Chidananda)
....
P: may she go to heaven
VP:heaven / hell are all beliefs.Who has experienced them?
J:"heaven and hell are within the Heart of men" (Swami Chidananda)
"Where can I go? I am here." (Ramana Maharshi)
.........
P:she died so young
VP:she was 85 !
J: "He is not born nor does He ever die; after having been, He again ceases not to be. Unborn, eternal, changeless and ancient, He is not killed when the body is killed" /Bhagavad Gita ch.2/20)
...
P:she was an excellent person
VP: what remains now are bones. Her soul is somewhere elsewhere now
J:she never existed.
.
P: we hope this death will be the end of sorrows
VP: how can it be.we are all going to die.only He remains
J:"He who, through the likeness of the Self, O Arjuna, sees equality everywhere, be it pleasure or pain, he is regarded as the highest Yogi! "(Bhagavad Gita ch6/32)
........
now the People start talking about other subjects......
P: fish from the sea taste better than Trout
VP: (happens to be vegetarian) both are dissgusting...would like to tell them that to shock them
J:" all mouths are mine.i eat through all mouths (Ramakrishna)
.
in fact the Jnani did not say anything.....there is no one in the house....the Self in him said it all.
Om Tat Sat
