This Earth is a place where we come, to learn how to love.
For the great majority, their path is of the heart, and the awakening of the unstruck chord (the heart, Anahata), and also the emotional nature associated with sexuality and the desire body (Svadhistana).
In fact, this Earth is primarily intended for these lovely souls.
There are others, whose path is of the mind. These travellers can be very out of touch with human society, as they did not originate in the same way. They are not higher, they are not lower. They are not special; just different.
However they too are here to learn how to love. It is not that they do not know how; they know how to love another of their brothers or sisters on the path quite well; but they can be totally clueless how to love a human on a different path.
There are others, whose path is of the will. These travellers can be very out of touch with human society, as they did not originate in the same way They are not higher, they are not lower. they are not special; just different.
It is not that they do not know how; they know how to love another of their brothers or sisters on the path quite well; but they can be totally clueless how to love a human on a different path.
One can go a lifetime, and meet only a handul of people on the path of mind.
One can go a lifetime, and only meet one on the path of will.
(it also bears stating, that some on the path of heart, are in fact fairly versed in mind or will. I know several people in AYP this describes well.. they tend to be engineers.
I myself have only met 1 person on the path of will.. and that was 25 years ago.. I doubt I will ever meet another).
These travellers, on the paths of mind and will, often 'wait' for someone to come along like them, but who could use a little coaching.. and to also receive a little coaching. There is not a huge difference between any of them..
However these two types of travellers need your love very much. They need agape love; unconditional love; their path is so bumpy on this Earth, they are easily overcome.
All of us, my very loved ayp friends, are beings who straddle many levels at all times.
Even the most inexperienced in Yoga of all of you, can and often do rise up, and act as a divine conduit of love or wisdom, of a type that is very needed.
In fact, the way absolute being works, is to wear various masks; for example, for all you know, you may think that you are a regular Joe or Jane, and yet one day something awakens with you, that suddenly gives you a completely different personality.
You look back and see that this "new you" was always there.. biding its time to spring into activity. This may even happen in cycles..for periods of time you lead this exciting life.. then during another cycle things are much more subdued, and all the fantastic events of the prior time fade away.
In some traditions they speak of a "master" coming in this way, and people who follow the "new age" would call these walk-ins.
This is a misperception. We ALL have a giant being, the Atman which powers us. This Atman may step in at any time and stir the pot so to speak, regardless of our yogic competency. However this state may not be sustained for long, in the absolute lack of an appropriate nervous system. This is why solid practices such as AYP are so critical, so wonderful.
This is not strange; this is how it goes.
The silence of AYP can deeply grip some, and cause a smooth transition to a beautiful form of consciousness.
However for others, the changes in consciousness are more "chunky". Some find themselves tools of karma, who rarely tarry in one place for long. These folks would love satsang, but do not understand people very well. However eventually the time comes, and they become the bridge between Mind or Will and Love, that they so yearn to be. They need your help. They can look so pathetic at times, and downright majestic at others. This is how you spot such a traveler.
Either that, or they are full of sheiss and have awakened out of order; or BOTH. This is not an either or universe. This is a quantum universe, where the impossible is probable.
I hope this bit of philosophy is of value to someone.
Kind Regards,
Kevin Cann

This resonates. We all need open, unconditional love. Some are just easier to love than others. The more different a person is, the more challenging it is to love them. But I've learned from the years of riding backwards on the engine, working the ambulance, and visiting my cousin in prison that the differences are on the surface. People are wonderful and fascinating, and we all have a bit of each other in us. Take my cousin and me for example. Cousin: Gangbanger on the west side of Chicago. Lizzy: Rural Missouri preacher's kid. You'd think we'd have nothing in common, but it turns out that we're very much alike. And he's my best friend in the world. I know nothing of you, but I sense some deep-seated injury that's been festering a long time and is finally starting to heal. We have that in common too. I hope you heal quickly and well. Much love to you.

Thank you Liz,
I have been DESPERATELY (sorry to scream) hanging onto this karma. I remember the first time I saw it, when I was 16. I decided to keep it. I decided that the entire universe had hurt me, did not in fact deserve my love, and that things would unfold MY WAY, or I would pout, and not play with the other kids!
But of course I have no love of my own; it is borrowed. Of course I am just another kid..none of us are higher or lower than another..grace flows from some, and is received by some, but even those from whom grace flows.. they receive it in full.. they have no grace of their own; it is borrowed. We are all in the exact same boat.
I can't tell you the pain this has caused me. How in the world did life flow this far, and still, this pain, from 1300 AD or so, was still lodged in both manipura and anahata?
It does not matter. It appears to have faded. Time will tell.
Love,
Kevin |

The idea of borrowed grace and love makes sense. When we have love to give, it's because we receive so much ourselves. We become conduits, I guess.
But I have to admit that I don't understand the concept of karma. I need to do more reading to try to get my head around it. And I googled manipura and anahata and found that they referred to two of the chakras. But I don't understand what it means to be stuck there or to have something stuck there. If you get time, would you mind posting your take on these concepts?

Liz,
just email me directly via my profile if you ever have questions that might be sensitive.
I do not wish to derail the core mission of AYP, with some of my answers. There are folks who see the world a bit differently, and perhaps it is for them that I may be of service.
But if I cause even one precious soul to stumble, who is rather new to practice, I would rather not have been born.
Also, all that said, I suspect that the basic AYP lessons or books have the information you seek.
I will say however, that karma is a pretty big word. One of those words that even the wise often stumble over.
But in short, our body, both physical and energetic, "remembers" the "kinks" that we put into it, and life after life (if you subscribe to that philsophy), karma, or our lessons, that which separates us from the flow of life, causes us to suffer and stumble, rather than walk as children in love.
When a new chakra (energy distribution center) opens, or becomes more active, typically these latent patterns, or "karma" are released--or just made more troublesome.
For example right now, I am being tossed around like a rag doll due to a chakra that is not talked much about becoming active and purified.
These chakra concepts are important, during the intermediate and later practices, but obsessing about them can cause one to stumble;
as Yogani says, we shouldn't focus overly much "under the hood".
Deep Meditation, Spinal breathing and the other practices are INDEED the correct thing to focus upon.
With love,
Kev |
