When even the flicker of a thought or the momentary sway of passion has a perceptible reaction on the body or a clearly noticeable effect on any particular organ, it is inconceivable that such abnormal and extraordinary states of mind associated with spiritual phenomena as are involved in the beholding of presences, hearing of unearthly voices, contemplation of enrapturing or awe-inspiring visions, entrancement and ecstasy, or any other form of psychical activity should not exhibit a corresponding physiological reaction in the body.

wow-
I have read that three times and I still don't really comprehend that statement. Is there someone that can simplify ?

like if there is a thought=there is a reaction on the body
but there should not be a physiological reaction?

thanks.

I think I also lioke the statement "to whom is this experience happening?'

He is saying there should be physiological reaction, not that there isn't one. Since if we abridge the sentence it reads like this

it's inconceivable that ... should not exhibit a corresponding physiological reaction.

Phaedris-
what does this mean to you, if I may ask?

what importance does this passage in a book prompt you to share.

once I read a passage in a book about the planet Sirius and it created alot of thoughts for me that just let me go thru exhaustion.

Just share with me or others what are you pointing to....

so in order for me not to avoid that I will have to talk of kundalini, energy etc.maybe it is ok or not to continue to tread mentally where I am uncomfortable.
