Hello everyone

how is the correct pronunciation of NAMAH?

MA = I think sound like in MAhadev or MAhatma (MÁ)

My doubt is about NA

NA is pronounced nasal ? (Nâ) "N" sounds like in 'no' in English

thankyou

peace for all

Hi Shanti

thanks for your response to me

I looked at the discussion, but the discussion is about NAMAH and NAMAHA , this is not my doubts

I'm sure NAMAH is the most appropriate , I use NAMAH

but my question is about, sounds like the first syllable of NAMAH, specifically "NA"

MAH = I think sound like MA in samya-MA or kar-MA, (MÁ) this is Mah of the NAMAH , but and "NA" of the "NA"-MAH

My doubt is about NA

NA is pronounced nasal ? (Nâ) "N" sounds like in 'no' in English or sounds like in pra-NÁ-yama ?

I think I found a way to demonstrate my doubts ..

you know a fruit called BANANA?

NAMAH, NA sounds like the second syllable of the word baNAna

or NA sounds like the third syllable of the word banaNA

Please listen here http://translate.google.com.br/#en|en|banana

just click on the speaker

I appreciate the help ..

peace and love .. for ALL

Short "a".. na as in no.. not pranaaayam.
Here listen to these:
http://www.sanatansociety.org/india...i_mantra.htm
http://www.spiritvoyage.com/flash/p...eva%20Premal
http://www.universalshaivafellowshi...haivism.html

As a general rule, in Sanskrit, most "a"s in the beginning of the word are short "a"s and end of the word are long "a"s.
Amrita
Anahata
Brahma
Chakra
Does this help?

NA sounds like third sylabe of the word banaNA

and at http://www.universalshaivafellowshi...haivism.html

sounds like second sylabe of the word baNAna

if you can, copy " http://translate.google.com.br/#en|en|banana " .. and paste into your browser

in AYP, which of the two pronunciations of the word NAMAH is correct?

First "na".. BaNana.

But that na is not correct either really.. it sounds more like the "na" of "nothing".. http://translate.google.com.br/#en|en|nothing

Hello ... about NAMAH pronunciation,

I was practicing like the third syllable of banaNA,(or like at http://www.spiritvoyage.com/flash/p...eva%20Premal) but I felt that something was not right,

however, through the help of SHANTI, I began practicing like second syllable of baNAna or , like the firt silbe of "NOthing", it worked really well for me

This small change made a difference in my practice daily

great help to me

The first one sounds good... but truthfully they both sound right. I have heard it said both ways.

Go with whichever feels comfortable to you.
