Hello all!
When you are focused on the mantra do you repeat it constantly until you lose it?
E.g i am, I am, I am, I am
Much love

Hi JECDisciple123 and welcome to the AYP forums
When practicing Deep Meditation we allow the mantra to repeat as often as it does....meaning we don't try to force any specific timing. If it feels most comfortable to repeat it with say a 1 or so second space between repetitions, then that is how you should do it. If it feels more comfortable to give youself lots of time between repetitions then that is how you should do it. Personally, I found that I began going deeper in Deep Meditation once I stopped trying to keep the mantra going for as long as possible (meaning focussing intently on the mantra). What I have found works much better is to introduce the mantra and to allow it to come to me, rather then me going to it if that makes any sense. Basically I will introduce the mantra then I will let it go for a bit, and as I notice myself drifting towards thought, I will repeat it again. A perfect meditation practice is not repeating the mantra over and over again and never losing it. Perfect meditation is when we introduce the mantra, allow ourselves to lose it, find ourselves off into thought, and then choose to re-introduce the mantra. The repetitive losing and the re-introducing the mantra is perfect meditation. It's really so simple that many people find themselves trying to make it more complicated then it actually is. Just sit, close the eyes, allow the mind to settle a bit, introduce the mantra, repeat it as is comfortable, and when you find yourself off into thought, just gently favor the mantra.
Hope this helps!
Love!
