Does anyone know what is the difference between kriya proper and kriya pranayama with Om on the 6 chakras?

Also is there such thing called kriya pranayama breathing? (no Om's on 6 chakras only visualize the mind going up and down the spine)

Lahiri's 1st kriya typically instructs students to do 24 kriya prananyama breaths. The first 12 kriya are done with concentration on ascending and descending the spinal column without focussing on chakra plexus'. The second 12 kriya are done with placing an "OM' in each chakra while both ascending and descending the spinal column.
