There are some needs... of my body (food, elements?)
There are some needs... of my mind (as per conditionings, adventure, pleasure?)
There are some needs... of my soul (peace, freedom, yoga?)
Then who am I?
Am I even born yet? |

There is something in my third eye. (light/awareness/watcher?)
Am I looking at it?
Or is it looking at me?
Or is it looking at the world through my eyes? |

I would respectfully submit that "needs" are the instincts of the thought-me; they are not conscious - neither is the thought-me.
It's like this: if an animal could think .... what would it think about?
Satiating its hunger. Mating. Surviving.
Now, imagine such a thinking animal catapulted into a dream land, where concepts are taken for real ("This is mine, not yours!" "I am this particular form; body sensations conceived as 'inside' are 'me', those conceived as 'outside' are 'other'" .. and so on).
Tigers fight with tooth and claw; the thought me, with ideas.
Stop thinking, and tell us --- what needs do you have?
And what is this "you" who could have them?
Or this thing called "born"?
Wholeheartedly,

I just heard a low gnawing noise coming underneath my table. I looked down and saw the rat (who tried to bite my toe a few minutes ago) chewing the rat poison I put there. :)
Man has tooth and claws too... the mind.
But if I stop thinking... even if a tiger attacks me and starts ripping my chest and bites me on the neck... I will not feel any pain or repulsion.
But I am not at that stage yet where thinking stops permanently. So I guess I can not answer your questions.
Well, the gnawing noise has ended now. I just looked under the table again and the fatty's lying there... almost breathing, eyes still like stone, looks like he is staring at nowhere.
Hey!
Stop thinking, and tell us --- what needs do you have?

He is still staring. I guess he can't speak or explain anything now.
---- Wait!!
I was about to post the reply when I heard the gnawing noise again.
Ohhhh no.... now there are two little baby rats chewing the same poison. Awww they look so cute. Little babies.
What shall I do? What shall I do?
I feel so sad on what I just did and watched and there are tears in my eyese... but... I do not feel guilty.
The gnawing noise has ended again. |

There's always peace when the gnawing noise ends ....
And I was just being kinda "rhetorical", and sharing the questions that arose as a result of your (posted) questions ..... "interactive poetry", if you will.
I saw a video earlier today, about a Jewish Rabbi (Reb Zalman Schacter of Advaitic Kabbalah, aka Jewish Renewal fame) who had a part-time job killing chickens for kosher (Jewish dietary laws) meals.
He says in the video that most people looked at the chickens as merchandise, but that he talked with them, and said, "I don't want to kill you, but this gives you the opportunity to release consciousness from this limited form, and evolve into something higher."
Which is the whole game, be we rat, chicken or apparently-human.
We're not the form inhabiting space, but the space informing the form.
Wholeheartedly,

The universe exists as long as I exist.
The dream ends as soon as you realise you are dreaming.
The so called illusion of the reality (including yourself) begins to dissolve/fall apart when you start awakening.
