THE DISTANCE
By LIVE

Let him come into the city
Let him find his lucky penny
Let him put it in his pocket and shake it all around

I've been to pretty buildings, all in search of you
I have lit all the candles, sat in all the pews
The desert had been done before, but I didn't even care
I got sand in both my shoes and scorpions in my hair
I saw that...

Oh the distance is not do-able
In these bodies of clay my brother
Oh the distance, it makes me uncomfortable
Guess it's natural to feel this way
Oh, let's hold out for somethin' sweeter
Spread your wings and fly

My car became the church and I
The worshipper of silence there
In a moment peace came over me
And the one who was beatin' my heart appeared and....

Oh the distance is not do-able
In these bodies of clay my brother
Oh the distance, it makes me uncomfortable
Guess it's natural to feel this way
Oh, are we locked into these bodies?
Let's hold out for somethin' sweeter
Spread your wings and fly

Oh, are we locked into these bodies?
Are we anything at all?
Let's hold out for somethin' sweeter
Spread your wings and fly
This distance is dreamin'
We're already there tonight

And here's (link below) a very cool Live (Performance) video of The Distance, by LIVE.

If the image on Ed's t-shirt looks a bit familiar ... yes, that's Shiva ... the pure awareness of our true nature .... and if the image on Ed's guitar looks familiar ... why, yes .... that *is* the AUM symbol.

Dude ..

You *SO* know that's the reaction I've been waiting for!!

... there's a reason for that, though ....

.... because ... like everything else (human lives, books, forum posts, walking dogs, running errands, etc. etc. etc.) .... when it's conscious .... even music ... is more than just music ......

And per that ..... here's One from LIVE ..... I hereby dedicate .... to ....

All Of You ....

THEY STOOD UP FOR LOVE

Naked lovers feel the blood beneath their veins
Electric nerves communicate
With tiny explosions through our brains
Who is this energy that never left or came?
Give rise to passion the only glory
Of this human story

I give my heart and soul to the One

We spend all of our lives goin' out of our minds
Looking back to our birth, forward to our demise

Even scientists say, everything is just light
Not created, destroyed but eternally bright

Masters in every time
Lord, in every place
Those who stood up for love down in spite of the hate
In spite of the hate

Who put the flower in the barrel of that gun?
Who lit the candle that started the fire,
Burnt down the fortress, the throne?
Who could house all the refugees in a single shack
Or a lowly bungalow?
Who lives in a different dimension, free from the
Struggles we know?

I give my heart and soul to the One

We spend all of our lives goin' out of our minds
Looking back to our birth, forward to our demise

Even scientists say, everything is just light
Not created, destroyed but eternally bright
Masters in every time
Lord in every place
Those who stood up for love down in spite of the hate

We spend all of our lives goin' out of our minds
They live in the light

We made it to the moon
But we can't make it home
Waitin' on a rescue that never comes
Made it to the moon
But we can't make it home

Maybe home is where the heart is given up
To the One
To the One

We spend all of our lives goin' out of our minds
Lookin' back to our birth, forward to our demise
We spend all of our lives goin' out of our minds
They live, they

They stood up for love
Stood up for love
Stood up for love
They stood up for love
Stood up for love
Stood up for love

We spend all of our lives goin' out of our minds
Masters in every time
We spend all of our lives goin' out of our minds
Stood up for love

k-man, i've been listening to "birds of pray" and now to "the distance to here"...

and all i can say is thank you brother for bringing back Live to my life...

the bhakti and the expression of loving to the One (i think it's da in this case) is very similar to that which Kamal Joumblat used to express for his beloved Sri Atmananda Krishna Menon...

blessed is he who basks in such a presence! hopefully it will be available to all of us...

namaste to Love

Oh, it IS --- and We Are (The Very Presence LIVE's songs point to!!)

And yes, Ed was a devotee of Adi Da at the time both those albums came out (and he may still be, on one level or another) -- but he's also expanded his horizons a bit, to actually include some of his Christian roots.

I identify with this (all accurate-map paths point all the way back Here .. and cover the Distance To Here ... only misinterpretation of the maps can make it seems otherwise.)

Here's an audio clip of Ed articulating his experience with all this -- including the Loving Experience of Pure Being:

AUDIO: Ed Kowalczyk from Live on Religion, Meditation & Inner Silence.

And here's "Ed Kowalcyzk in his natural habitat" ... I like his comments ... and his song (actually, Bob Dylan's song) - and yes .... we have the same tailor!! )

VIDEO: EddieKLive - singing Blowing In The Wind

What I think is so awesome is ... here's a person ... just like we're each/all a person (yet more, yet less) ... who could've done anything at all with his life ... including succumbing to the many temptations that ruin the lives of professional artists ... including happily retiring at a very young age ....... but who keeps on "working it" .... and inspiring millions .... purely by being who he is, and singing what he sings.

May it be so for all of us (whether "millions" or "One" .. it's the inspiring ... by being who we are .... that's the key ... to it all. ).

Heart Is Where The AUM Is,

Kirtanman

PS- Here's a "re-link" to my LIVE blog that I haven't updated in a while .... but felt you might appreciate/enjoy the most recent post .... a nice little clip of Ed speaking about The Mystery ... (the post opens with one of my favorite Adya quotes).

Dance with you

Sittin' on the beach
The island king of love
Deep in fijian seas
Deep in some blissful dream
Where the godess finally sleeps
In the lap of her lover
Subdued in all her rage
And I am aglow with the taste of the demons driven out
And happily replaced with the presence of real love
The only one who saves
I wanna dance with you
I see a world where people live and die with grace
The karmic ocean dried up and leave no trace
I wanna dance with you
I see a sky full of the stars that change our minds
The stilness in your eyes
Convinces me that I
I don't know a thing
And I've been around the world and I've tasted all the wines
A half a billion times came sickness to our shores
You show me what this life is for
I wanna dance with you
I see a world where people live and die with grace
The karmic ocean dried up and leave no trace
I wanna dance with you
I see a sky full of the stars that change our minds
And lead us back to a world we would not face
In this altered state
Full of so much pain and rage
You know we got to find a way to let it go
Sittin' on the beach
The island king of love
Deep in fijian seas
Deep in the heart of it all where the godess finally sleeps
After eons of war and lifetimes
She smilin' and free, nothin' left
But a cracking voice and a song, oh lord
I wanna dance with you
I see a world where people live and die with grace
The karmic ocean dried up and leave no trace
I wanna dance with you
I see a sky full of the stars that change our minds
And lead us back to a world we would not face
We would not face
We would not face
We would not face
We would not face
We would not face

Sage is on the outs with not having the ability to hear music off the computer. During a move, I kept only my hard drive, and got rid of everything else and have replaced only mouse, monitor, and keyboard....therefore, lacking in speakers.

I like to hear music in addition to words. I don't know LIVE but I figure that I would enjoy them. Also could not listen to Swami Laksmanjoo either but did see a photo of him. Alot of those swamis, sages, and masters like to wear those knitted hats, I've noticed.

I always appreciate posting stuff that I don't know of yet.

just wanted to respond in someway.

Thank Kirtanman,

It's been a long time since I listened to Live. My first language is not english and when I used to listen to Live a couple of years ago I did not really understand what it was about but somehow it resonated something inside me.

You just conviced me to listen to these CDs with the perspective I now have.

Tanks again,

Innercall
