For those who are sincerely interested in the Buddhist discourse on Enlightenment, at least from the Mahayana to the Vajrayana teachings, I strongly suggest going through the above link from start to finish. It is Suzuki's excellent translation of the Lankavatara Sutra.

The Lankavatara Sutra is essentially mother sutra of Vajrayana, and the Kagyu tradition in particular. Lord Jigten Sumgon mentions this in Gongchig. He mentions that one can get enlightened in one life through this sutra. (The implication from the other slokas of Gongchig is that one needs a guru).

In any event, all the topics we discuss regularly in the Buddhist context in this forum are addressed in the Lankavatara Sutra. If we are to have a nice discussion in the future, it would be good for those interested to have fully read and digested this foundational text.
