I wanted to share some quote from Tau Malachi at the Sophian Gnosticism (aka Yogic Christianity) forum, on Non-Duality.

There is no difference between the relative expanse and absolute expanse, or what Gnostics would call the entirety and pleroma, or what the Mekubal would call perud and yichud; hence, in truth, this realization of Primordial Wisdom is non-dual realization, as drawn out in Dzogchen and Melchizedek teachings.

How may we understand this? It is understood through direct experience, direct recognition, but we may hint at it. The best hint I’m aware of is this: Abiding in the presence of awareness without attachment or aversion, whether in clarity or confusion, the nature of mind remains the same and all that arises is the radiant display of Mother Wisdom, Sophia.

This is the way of self-liberating awareness!

All too often the novice, and even many well along the Way, conceive of enlightenment or illumination as clarity devoid of the experience of any confusion, as though there is something permanent to grasp onto. The truth of impermanence, however, suggests otherwise, for if ultimately reality is a constant continuum of change arising from the primordial ground of no-thingness, emptiness, voidness, then clarity and confusion alike are impermanent phenomenon of consciousness – true enlightenment, illumination or gnosis, then, must be an increasingly rapid flickering between clarity and confusion, one that naturally and spontaneously occurs when we are no longer attached to clarity or averse to confusion, or when self-grasping is brought into cessation.

Our dualistic concepts of enlightenment, our attachment to clarity, prevents the actual recognition and realization of the enlightened or divine nature within and behind all that arises, clarity or confusion, pleroma or entirety, yichud or perud, and so in seeking itself we become bound up in ignorance, the demiurge.

Something similar is true with regards to the idea of personal salvation or enlightenment – it, too, is based upon the misconception of enlightenment as some fixed or static state of being, when, in fact, actual enlightenment or illumination is a fluid and flowing state, a dynamic state of being, in which we recognize and realize no difference between formlessness and form, or between dreamless sleep and the arising of dreams, and so forth.

Those who propose that there is no “going beyond” or experience of the “other shore” while in the body remain bound in the delusion of dualism – dualistic consciousness, the unenlightened condition; of course, that’s equally true of most who affirm the potential of transcendence while incarnate, but who, as yet, have not recognized and realized the truth of the non-dual!

Words, concepts, are extremely tricky when speaking about this! As an example, we could say that the very idea of “beyond” implies a dualistic state of consciousness, and yet to deny the relative reality of “beyond” would also imply dualism in consciousness – either position, by itself, is a partial truth and partial falsehood when thought and spoken. In a state of pure radiant awareness, in a manner of speaking, the truth is that there is no beyond, and yet there is a beyond, and there is no contradiction between these two truths – it reflects and expresses something of reality as it is when we can look and see.

Generally speaking, we look, but we do not see, we look in a state of self-grasping, clinging to the I-thought, projecting our desires and fears, our preconceptions, preconditions and expectations upon reality in a state of dualistic consciousness; therefore, we do not see reality as it is, but rather, what we “see” is our subjective version of reality, we “see” reality only through the distortions of our own projections. In order to look and see reality as it is, or God as God is, we must let go of self-grasping, desires and fears, preconceptions, preconditions and expectations, everything we think we know, who we think we are, what we think reality is, and who or what we think God is – we must become empty of ourselves to abide in pure radiant awareness, Non-dual Gnostic Awareness.

Only when we are empty of ourselves can we look and see – seeing in this way is Gnostic Being, Enlightened Being.

In this holy awareness, truly, in the body or beyond the body, there is no difference, for in this holy awareness we are aware of being in the body and beyond the body at one and the same time – it is a state of meta-awareness, meta-gnosis, meta-meditation, if you will, the awareness of meta-dimensional being.

Here we can say, Christ and Buddha were in the heavens and the world, and yet they were transcendent of the heavens and the world, never having been in the heavens or the world – born in the heavens and the world, they were pure emanations of bornless being, “without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life…”

And so also are we, but, generally speaking, most of us are unaware of this, ignorant of this, and so we aimlessly wander in karmic compulsion, even in the midst of our spiritual seeking, which apparently is just a more luminous karma than some others, but still a play of dualism in consciousness, the ignorance (agnosis).
