Has anyone tried rebirthing classes? I recently read on the internet about this breathing technique but have not tried it. What do you think about it |

I have done a number of sessions and really feel that it is helpful. It is basically about connecting the inhale with the exhale in a circular breathing pattern in a guided setting where the guide encourages you to breathe past resistances and blocks. A session can vary from being gently relaxing to a very dramatic emotional catharsis. i highly recommend it! |

Thank you very much for your response. A local natural healing specialist seemed to be negative about it and warned against 'dangers.' This is why I decided to post it here also. Thanks again. |

Once was more than enough. We're trying to avoid rebirth around here, no? ;) |

Hi All: I am a rebirthing facilitator fwiw...went through training about 4-5 years ago when Leonard Orr(originator) was near here in Walton,NY. It is a valuable process for someone that has never been involved with pranayama techniques in the past,or a beginner to awareness in breathing, but for experienced pranayamists,(coined word) marginal at best.It should be a one on one session, but has expanded to large group settings with only 2 or 3 facilitators and much is missed that way, from both sides.

Thank you very much for your input. I read that people who go to such groups can have quite extreme experiences - crying, temporarily immobilized limbs, pains etc. and I guess I thought if the external manifestations are so extreme there must be a massive benefit
Also there was a description on the web that it clears past emotional traumas perhaps somewhat like what Victor mentioned here but they were really praising it (I guess the text is from their organization then). |

Hi Lili: It depends on the individual. I have experienced sessions where deeply seated emotions have come to the surface and the facilitator must be right there to ease them through it, much like a guided trip. So these large group settings that are done today can be unsettling, if not getting out of hand. The facilitator's job is allow this inner exploration making note of colors, shapes, sounds etc mentioned by the person going through it and reminding them to keep the breath flowing. Very close observation is needed watching for panic situations and bringing them gently back to the process.

A lot of negative feelings about rebirthing came because of people who were rolling you up in a mattress or something so you would feel claustrophobic, then let you out to feel reborn. A mom here in Colorado forced her young daughter to do it as she was unruly or something. The girl kept telling them she couldn't breathe, and she was dying. The rebirthers said that was a normal reaction. When they let the girl out, she was dead. They're in jail now.

I heard about this event. It does not sound like any rebirthing that I have even heard of. Most likely people who were doing something different and calling it by the same name. My understanding is that the style of rebirthing in the Leonard Orr tradition evolved from underwater breathing expoerience to much simpler and safer simply guided breathing practice without all of these props |

Hi All: You are right Victor. The Leonard Orr process did evolve from underwater and fire (candles) process.

Is rebirthing the same as past life regression ? I am asking because I am considering to do a past life regression. Has anyone of you experienced a past life regression ?

Either my question has been overlooked (during all the moderators busy work) or nobody actually did have an experience of this kind ... |

W are trying to avoid the rebirth into anything other than the constant state of birth. Let go and let god, more things change the more they stay the same. Even the butterfly itself, is a seed of things to come. |

Wolfgang, i believe rebirthing is completely different from past life regression. Rebirthing is getting you to re-experience birth but not before. |
