Dear Victor,

You Said..."To stretch it I took hold of my tongue
with my hand (had to wipe the hand a couple times so
it won't slip) and then just gently pull, first in
front, then to one side then another. You can time the
stretch for maybe a minute per side or something like
that."

My Ayurvedic Teacher, who can do Kechari Mudra, said a
similar thing about gently pulling the tongue forward,
and thus 'stroking it' to lengthen it...I just wanted
to add that he recommended putting a little Ghee
(clarified butter) on the tongue when doing this to
use the oiliation principle to soften the tongue
making it more susceptible to the lengthening
practice. Oil is unctuous, and aids the tissues in
increasing their flexibility, and thus length...

Just a note...let me know if you get a chance to try
it, and what affects it has for you...

I have heard about using ghee and am sure that it works well in "milking" teh tongue. What I was talking baout was that the tongue is wet and slippery and if I got it a little dryer it would be easier to hold. I think we are talking about two things here. In your case you use ghee like a massage oil and squeeze and massage and milk the tongue. What I described was holding it and applying a gentle pull to lengthen it. Both are no doubt good methods. I just did this casually while driving my car so couldn't apply full attention with ghee etc. It did work for me though. no doubt the ghee method is more classical and thorough.

I agree with you, and I didn't mention it, but yes the
tongue must be made dry BEFORE applying the
ghee...thanks for the clarifying notice.

Doing this while driving would be dangerous, huh? I
think you have a good thing going there...we can
simply stretch the tongue any time we have a spare
moment, and when at home we can dry and milk/stretch
the tongue with ghee also! What a beautiful combo!

Thanks Victor...
Ashwin
