I was drawn to the AYP because I wanted to learn Kechari Mudra and
this was the only source of teaching that I found. It has been a
great help in my practice and I am wondering who here is practicing
Kechari and at what level and what your experiences of it are. I
daily practice stage 3 kechari while doing pranayama and meditation
and wonder if that is common among AYP students and how you got to
that place.

Dear Victor,

Oh, THE FLOW!!! I AM at Stage 1 Kechari, and am about to begin
trimming my frenum, as I am throat-jamming, as Yogani explains, and
perhaps I'm a little early now...however Kechari I DO SO want to
learn, as I feel it would ELEVATE BOTH my CONSCIOUSNESS, as well as my
level of practice! Perhaps you can help here. Yogani calls it "a Giant
Leap for Mankind," and I WANT TO make THAT LEAP!!!

My tongue is, at present, not long enough to stretch up into the nasal
septum, although I practice daily. CONGRATULATIONS to YOU!!!

Blessings,
Nirmal!

Georgia,
Trim gently and keep practicing! As things progress for you please keep us updated as I am very interested in others experience and will be happy to help in any way I can.
I was lucky, I only needed to snip once but I think I overdid it a bit as my tongue was sore for a week! I stretched it every day and when it healed I was able to practice kechari during pranayama. I had been able to take the tongue back before but not for a whole practice.
I wouldn't say that practicing Kechari created a dramatic alteration in my conciousness as much as that it feels like an essential missing piece to the puzzle of pranayama and meditation. For some reason while in Kechari I find that the mantra "works" whereas before it just seemed like repeating sounds. hard to describe but something kicks in. The same goes for the dynamic jalandhara which is very closely tied to Kechari and together they really open the throat area and create connection between the head and heart energetically. It is a process of "purification" as Yogani says and sometimes feels as if lower sludgy energies are being dredged out and cleared. After doing Pranayama for over 20 years this Kechari is clearly the next step for me and I am so glad to have found these teachings as they do not seem available anywhere else.

Hello All, it was seaching on Kechari which bought me to the AYP site. I've been meditating, yoga, tai Chi for 20 years and am very very strongly drawn to Kechari as the next step. I'm stage 1 Kechari and am getting a hint of what it may mean. I am held back by the frenulum, I've been trying to trim it with nail clippers but am worried I'll cut too much - is there some other tool which maybe limits the size of the cut? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Otherwise I'm following the twice a day rountine with deep and longfelt benefits.
Alex.

Alex, use cuticle snippers not nail clippers. they are different. the
cuticle snippers look like tiny wire cutters. it is a little scary,
you need to just cut a tiny bit of teh frenulum in the center. just
the center the width of a hair. do NOT cut any veins or anything on
teh sides. its just that line in the center that is really just under
or part of the skin

Dear Alex,

Yogani directed me to Main Lessons, #108 when I asked him. Use a
sharp, sterilized(rubbing alcolol is good), cuticle-snipper, and tiny
snips(hair-like) at a time, stretched out many months, or years!!!
Good luck!!!

Love and Light,
Nirmal

Thanks - I didn't realise there was a difference. I'll try to get some in the chemist.

Victor; I made my first snip yesterday. There was a bit of blood but no pain and huge adrenelin as I found it a struggle to modify my body in this way, I've always profoundly held my body as sacred and a perfect as it is. In terms of pushing the tongue back towards the nasal pharynx it doesn't seem to of made a difference (yet). You refer below to stretching your tongue; can you explain to me how you do this.
Thanks,
Alex

Alex,
Congratulations! You will probably not feel much lengthening at first. it will be a little swollen and needs to heal. To stretch it I took hold of my tongue with my hand (had to wipe the hand a couple times so it won't slip) and then just gently pull, first in front, then to one side then another. You can time the stretch for maybe a minute per side or something like that. Once you are completely healed you will never even notice that you snipped. I did the stretching while driving my car as i had some time and no one was watching me. Once the snip is completely healed you can do the next one. Best of luck!
