I just want a clarification and considered views on the following. There is an Institution viz Brahma kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya having its Head office at Mount Abu, Rajasthan, India and Branches all over the World. According to their philosophy a soul has its independent entity , once it is created it never merge with the Supreme soul. As such there is no end of the cycle of Birth & Death for any soul and by good or bad Karmas it has Birth in rich/ poor families and suffers accordingly and as such there is no end to the vicious circle of Birth & Death. Would you pleae extend your comments / opinion in this matter. Nodoubt , of course, it is a topic for a Realised soul to throw a light. Regards, R N Gupta

No doubt, Mr. Gupta :) While I wait for a realized soul to respond to you, I'll take a stab at an answer myself. I've always believed everyone is entitled to my opinion. :)
> According to their philosophy a soul has its independent entity , > once it is created it never merge with the Supreme soul.
I don't know about this group, but I don't believe the proposition that a soul has its independent entity and once it is created it never merges with the Supreme soul. In fact I have a strong sense that this is a mistake.
If you believe that this is a mistake, by the way, you are in the company of Gautama Buddha. This is one of the mistakes that he made a considerable effort to point out, at some political cost perhaps.
But my 'sense' or intuition that it is a mistake is not just due to believing Buddha. It is more fundamental than that. It is a naturalistic intuition that has a basis in my understanding of science and the universe in general. Every 'Thing' is composite (made up of other things). All that is put together dissolves. Why do we expect an exception somewhere to this continuum?
And if I were to insist, for example, that while it is true that every 'Thing' is composite and eventually dissolves, except my bicycle, you would be inclined to think I am a little silly, and to ask, why ever would my bicycle be an exception? And you might ask what has caused me to hold such a very strange view about my bicycle. And if you found that I have a very strong emotional attachment to my bicycle (and cannot stand the idea of its passing away) then you might shake your head and say, 'Aha! No further questions!'
It is along those lines that I suspect that the philosophy in question is in error.
I hope you found some use in that.
Best regards,
-David

I would not join you though in assuming that Mr. Gupta is distracted from important issues in life by his question. Perhaps it **is** an important issue in his life.
Not everyone cares to orient themselves philosophically, or cares about cosmology. But there are people who do. To each his own.
This man's question or concern, by the way, is considered a substantial one in Buddhism. The Buddha took pains to repudiate what he considered a substantial error on that issue. I am inclined to expect that he saw that the belief that one is an eternal separate entity fosters a continuing dualism and is not spiritually healthy.

There are differing teachings on this issue from different parts of the world. I don't personally see any as "right" or "wrong" but more differing in perspective. Otherwise it is basically speculation.

My opinion is that "Soul can be said as equivalent to a bird which takes nest as body each life and searches for a body(nest) to live in permanently. It searches all around the and finally getting the knowledge of the world it selects a body to reside forever. Each life soul searches for the knowledge of the divine. This knowledge of the True nature of universe and the deathles life are the end to the vicious cycle of death and birth.Kundalini Gnana practices pave the way for the same." Its the my opinion .
With regards,
maniram Kumar
