I'm sorry if you feel misguided. The reason why I choose to start with the crown chakra rather then the root chakra are various:
1. The upper chakras are considered pure chakras while the lower are inpure. Instead of infesting the upper chakras with the raw energy of the lower chakras I purify the lower chakras with the high frequencies of the higher chakras.
2. The Spirit Descends, therefore it is only natural to start from above.
3. I recomend working first with the navel chakra, then the heart chakra and then the third-eye chakra.
As above so below.
Know Your Will!
Three are the poisons, three the antidotes and three the rewards.
Ignorance, Hatred and Desire are the poisons.
Will to obtain knowledge, attachment to God and the fight against evil are the antidotes.
Wisdom, Grace and Peace are the Rewards.
Love is the Law, Love willed.

From everything I've read, and from Chi gung and Tai Chi, one should start
at the lower chakras and work up. The Kundalini energy resides at the
bottom, and rises, after all. And the lower chakras are not impure -- they
need to be spinning properly and healthy as much as all the other chakras to
have a healthy, whole person -- IMHO
