i heard people talk about this at the ramana retreat, and then this girl yesterday in my psychology class for her oral. i was wondering what it really means to do this? like is there a method or anything or you just forget about your worries and say that god will take care of them?

Hi Eddy,

Yes, you can say that you just forget about your worries and say that God will take care of them. Giving the worries to God is similar to giving up one's own identification with them.

Another way of seeing it is to just give up the worries or letting go of them. The worries are however tied to the ego, or built into the ego, so it's often not easy to just willfully let them go, they tend to come back again. The part of the ego, or one's sense of identity, that is associated with the worries, needs to be let go of also. (This part of the ego is the part that clings to the sense that I can be worried about this).

The process of dissolution of the ego can come through inner silence, which emerges through meditation. With inner silence it is much easier to see worries as something we don't need to, or want to, hold on to, if and when they come up. The process can also come through devotion to a higher purpose or being (God).
