HI,

I just practice bhakthi yoga. But, starngely, I see some light between
my eyebrow, when ever I am about to sleep. Is it any indication..? How
can I get rid of it.

Thanks,
Phani

Hi,

if you like it, enjoy it, but otherwise just look on it as some
anomaly of your nervous system, like indigestion is to your stomach.

I don't know how to get rid of it. But if it's not really causing a problem, just ignore it.

Best regards,

-David

Thanks for the reply,

But I am also getting pain between eyebrows, especially when sleeping.

Why is it..? I have practised 'I am' mantra for 3 weeks, and thats
when it started, and now i shifted top bhakthi yoga.

Thanks,
Phani

Phani,

I hope you'll try the mantra meditation again some day. And if you
do, please give yourself enough time coming out of it, just sitting
quietly when you come out of your meditation. You could even lie
down in corpse pose for a few minutes after your meditation....

In Light and Love,

Kathy

Hi Phani,

we might be able to help you more on these questions. But I for one
find it very hard to interpret where it is at for you. You are
having these experiences --- are they a problem?

Are they stopping you doing meditation or interfering with your
sleep?

What do you think they might be?

Is there something you would like to hear that they are?

With more information/ideas from you we might be able to help more.

Best regards,

-David

Hi Phani,

Seeings I'm a bit chatty tonight, I thought I might add my interpretation to the mix :-)

>>I just practice bhakthi yoga. But, strangely, I see some light between
my eyebrow, when ever I am about to sleep. Is it any indication..? How
can I get rid of it.<<

To address the bhakti path first up... I have spoken to some who are pure Bhakti (devotional) and others who are pure jnana(knowledge), others who were pure pranayama, others still who were solely intuitive and on and on... It would seem there is no right or wrong way, rather, paths that accommodate the personality traits and make up of the individual. Of course most people seem to be a combination of all paths, though there still appears to be an emphasis on one in particular. So the point, I suspect I will eventually come to ;-) is, there is no one way/path that is better, just what works for you. I say this because you said "just" Bhakti, as if it is some how lower or less sophisticated/evolved than stereotypical yogic pranayam etc. I just wanted to say that in my limited and distorted opinion, I don't think this is true :-)

I have known some yogis, who have reached the pinnacle of pranayama and jnanic practices, of extreme sophistication. Then, after a life time of practice, they have given it all away, and said, Bhakthi is the highest and most effective. Of course this is just their opinion, but it may be true. Just as opposing views may also be true. My own view is that all paths are equal if practiced with commitment, and one will move natural towards ones predispositions.

As far as the light is concerned, my take on this is, when we are with in the process of falling asleep, we enter into progressive states of consciousness, changes in brain wave patterns, Beta, Alpha, Theta and finally Delta. These are progressive trance states, ending in unconsciousness at Delta if going to sleep (Dreamless sleep for the most part).

What takes place in this shift in brain waves and conscious states as it were, is the same as with in meditation, though actively induced, with out falling asleep. You may consider it conscious sleep or yoga Nidra, perhaps with sum subtle, technical differences though. So as you move into the Alpha state which progresses deeper and perhaps into light Theta, around about here (deep Alpha, maybe light Theta brain wave/Trance state) is probably where you see the light. Your consciousness has internalized, come in deeper contact with your subconscious and psychic consciousness and astral/Etheric (more probably your Etheric) sight has opened up or become available to your conscious mind. Tis is a direct resultof the trance state you currently find your self in, whether it be meditation or falling asleep.

From the perspective of many, many hundreds of thousands of meditators, who spend their whole lives meditating and not having the simple experience of seeing light in third eye as their etheric sight opens up, you are very fortunate. Many of these aspirants would be quite envious.

Sant Mat is one of many systems (practiced by some of the Sikhs, founded by Guru Nanak) which places its entire emphasis on seeing the inner light and listening to the inner sound (Om), which is used for meditation. One focuses on this light, which is considered a lesser emanation of the Divine Sound Current, or the formless energy/essence of God, and follows it all the way into Samadhi and unification with, or experience of Self as God Consciousness.

Perhaps next time it happens, you would like to experiment, and see if you can gently focus your attention on the light, merge your mind with it, perhaps you will realize the essence of Self with such a meditation :-)

Don't know if you can get rid of it, the opening of the etheric site, comes naturally with heightened activity of the third eye. These are according to many traditions, sign posts along the way :-)

In kind regards,

Adam.

Excellent stuff Adam but.... I wish we could get back to chatting
about Cornwall, like the subject says. :)

> I have known some yogis, who have reached the pinnacle of

Yes. In some of those cases, the Jnana work could have laid the
foundation for the Bhakti work later. In other cases, the Bhakti
work could lay the foundation for later Jnana work. Not all
spiritual realizers are very process-aware though, and they end up
saying stuff like "Bhakti is better" or "Jnana is better". It's
really like saying 'carpentry is better' or 'plumbing is better'.

As to what people should (or will) focus on, it comes down to
personal energies, available teachers and so on.

So, apart from the all-round, life-encompassing nature of a
spiritual path, we all have our special "focus".
I'd suggest a simple rule/idea for what that focus should be:

. Focus on what you are best at (because it will pull you forward).

. Also focus on where your weakest points are (because if you don't,
they will pull you back).

So apart from your all-round work, your best AND your worst get
special attention.

Best regards,

now back to Cornwall please. :)

-David

Hi Phani,

>>Thanks for the reply,<<

Your most welcome :-)

>>But I am also getting pain between eyebrows, especially when sleeping.<<

Mmm, first up it is problematic to offer medical advice, even if it is metaphysical in nature, for obvious reasons. What I will do, is think out loud as if I personally were experiencing your symptoms.

1. Is there a biological cause, and should I seek a doctors advice? Perhaps, and if symptoms become worrisome and persist, possibly. Given, my circumstances (my meditation practices) is it likely the cause is biological, perhaps not.

2. Pain in a chakra, from my perspective, may indicate heightened activity there in, while simultaneously, the energy pathways or the chakra itself, may be block, damage or overloaded.

3. What could I do to resolve this? Well, gently working with spinal breathing, may dissolve the block, or promote healing. On the other hand, such energetic activity may enflame and exaggerate the activity and pain.

4. I may consider, gently working through it, perhaps including other forms of energy work, like Reiki or pranic healing, but generally I would stick with spinal breathing, but in a reduced load/repetitions. Likewise, perhaps I would reduce the amount of time spent in meditation.

5. If discomfort moves beyond my acceptable comfort zone, I would stop for a time.

6. If further, unacceptable discomfort continues, and I did not want to work through it, I would stop all spiritual work completely, and focus on material plane activities. This gives your nervous system, etheric and organic, time to adjust to the heightened energy load, heal and accommodate.

7. In relatively extreme cases, I would consider eating and drinking very low vibration foods and drink, like beef and alcohol, and consider heightening the number of ejaculations I have per month, week or day as it were. This will lower my over all vibration, and deplete my nervous system and etheric bodies of spiritual charge, thus reducing the pressure on my upper centers/chakras and causing them to become more inactive.

>>is it..? I have practiced 'I am' mantra for 3 weeks, and that's
when it started, and now i shifted top bhakthi yoga.<<

As I have already said above, my yogic practices may have caused this for the above stated reasons, mantra or bhakti, will have the same effect, both focus on God/Divine Consciousness, and stimulate my energies and chakras, just different methods. My symptoms may indicate a blockage or bit of a burn out, I would consider implementing the above procedures and do plenty of research on the net, and listen with in to my intuition for guidance :-)

In kind regards,

Adam.
