The tongue goes up, and the tip touches this boney structure. If it pushes foward, it goes up into the nasal passage. But it feels like it could go backwards.

Is there anything back there?

Great Question Kyman. I have had similar thoughts. Any time that I try to explore that area the tongue slips out of the nasal pharnax. Not sure if there is anywhere to go.

Where is a dead body when you need one?

Seriously, that sounds bad. But lifeforms learned a great deal about themselves by studying their dead.

Goodness, can you imagine them sifting through the bones of their ancestors?
