Hello,
Just a little background first.
My history of meditation practice started almost four years ago, with buddhist mindfulness of breathing and metta bhavana practices. This has always been a bit erratic due to a lack of personal guidance and the huge variety in interpretation and technique and goal of practice.
I have had limited experience with shakti bija mantra practice, minus the pranayama and theoretical understanding. I have also received Reiki II attunement. In addition I have used Holosync technology for around six months now.
Throughout this period, much more so in the earlier phases, less so in the later, and not at all lately, there has been experimentation with various psychdelics, including Ayahuasca vine. I've gone through guided meditations with use of singing bowl resonance to energetically leave earth. I've had some experiences, we could say.
So, here we are today. I've been practicing the AYP method for about a week now. Two days ago I included 5 minutes of pranayama into the beginning of my routine. Twice daily I perform 5 minutes pranayama, followed by 10 minutes of meditation. I was somewhat skeptical about exchanging Holosync for AYP, as Holosync seems so grounded in western science and has such rave reviews. But today's meditation really caught my interest.
A short while into the mantra practice I very easily and lightly fell into the mantra, and felt its vibration and energy at very subtle levels.. the sound 'felt' like 'light'.. holy light.. I grew so joyful, so blissful inside.
I could feel energy inside of me. The heart area was tingling in all directions a wide radius.. I could feel tingles running up to my throat chakra and under my tongue, and felt the urge to stretch my tongue backwards as far as possible in order to make the energy move further upwards with greater conductivity. I felt sensations in my solar plexus as well, and below, suddenly within this blissful reverie I noticed a feeling of sexual arousal accompanied by its physical counterpart.
But unlike normal, the sexual arousal was experienced alongside this sweet bliss/love sensation.. like these two 'polarities' were merging. Normally I would feel horny OR holy, I never feel both at the same time!
Even before this I started instinctively tensing my perenium.. it literally felt like more energy would come up into the solar plexus when I did this.
Each time I would slip into the mantra enough to lose conscious effort, I would come back and start involuntarily convulsing (not a new thing for me in meditation)
After the ten minutes, I sat a few minutes then lay down for ten minutes or so to recover.
So.. what can I say.. interesting, and this is starting to make a believer out of me!
Thank you, Yogani, for your time and effort in providing these teachings. I see you. :)

Hello Group -
Like Jack, I have done AYP for a short time, but I have not had the experiences he has had. Prior to doing AYP, I have done some pranayama. I have read through the lessons, but have not added spinal breathing yet. Should I go ahead and do that now? I have practiced hatha yoga for a few years now, and have had neat experiences at the end during shavasana.
Thanks for any advice!

Hi Hannah and welcome to the forum!
And it's good to hear that you got started in AYP. By doing AYP I assume that you mean deep meditation. The guideline in AYP is to become stable and well established in a practice before adding a new one. So, nobody else can answer when that might be, only when you feel ready. Many consider few to several months to be good timeframes to work with when it comes to adding a new practice. But it can be much sooner as well, if our bhakti is high and we are eager to make headway. In any case, with deep meditation, it may be a good idea to find a certain measure of inner silence and stability before adding spinal breathing.

Hi all,
I added the pranayama because I was experiencing a lot of convulsion and shaking from mantra practice, and I rememember reading somewhere here that pranayama can help to smooth that out. I have been shaking less since starting it! I'll probably be adding 5 minutes of meditation a month as a guideline, and see how it all goes.
What I would take with me from this practice so far is that.. 'the nature of the universe is good'..followed by gratitude and celebration and love that is limited only by ME - my blockages, hangups, my nervous system. I notice my nervous system has a great deal accepting that the universe is good and that there is no need to fear or fight. Thank God for the tools to change this situation and come home. I am finding a newfound and natural strength which reduces how much I act out of insecurity and fear. (though I have noticed a new selfish habit of trying to 'protect my bubble' from negative people. Perhaps somewhat a useful protection device at this stage, I have a duty to those close to me to aid them in their life struggles, and so I hope compassion and action take the place of this fear.
Thats all it is.. fear! And we are so caught up in it we do not even realise how miserable life has been down here!
Here's to a swifty breaking down of the black iron prison!

HI Jack you are doing well and are on the right track. I experienced exactly the same problems I posted it here so you see you are not alone. Its nothing to worry about lots of us have been through it.. its just one of the many symptoms of purification. Keep up the good work the spinal breathing really helps. Without the guidance of Yogani I think I would probably have given up on meditation so dont be afraid to ask about things like that its very unlikely that your problems will be unique quote: What I would take with me from this practice so far is that.. Just carry on with the practices AYP gives you all the tools you will ever need to reach your objectives
