My basic problem starts with maybe not only having trbl visualisation but feeling also. So i am trapped both sides. Not being able to feel the perinieum makes it more difficult. Its like if i cant feel how do i focus there? If I look at my thumb i can feel something there so i look and i concentrate on my thum till i become a surface there and then i feel something on the thumb. With the Perineum there is nuthin at all.
When u say feel energy going up and down. Maybe cold upside and hot downside. How do i do that when i cannot feel anything. The stupid brain says whats there? nuthin? Sometimes in cases of intense emotion when i concentrate on my heart chakra i can feel tingles running up my spine and the hair standing up on my entire body but to recall that is almost impossible and so is to maintain that. Maybe its just an adrenaline rush caused by intense emotions.
How does one *imagine* feeling it?? Yes I can remember the feeling of coldness there if i apply Vicks or anything hot there but is that all?
I am not trying too hard at all. In fact i get a little frustrated that even the simplest of things is so difficult. SO i am just asking abt in case i am not doing anything right or maybe there is a way of doing that that i am not aware of.
As of now i just sit and try to feel something rising from the bottom part of my body since i cant pinpoint my perineum and trying to move up my body. Now its quite difficult to feel or imagine something midway. Maybe if i feel my perineum i can start to just take it up from there inch by inch. I suppose thats the right way to do it.

Stop worrying about it. If you are comfortable with the meditation side of it everything else will sort itself out the meditation is the most important bit. If you don't feel anything with the spinal breathing at first that doesn't matter, as long as you have it in your mind that you are going up and down your spine it is still working. Sensations will come in time that's what I meant by trying too hard. It took me ages to feel anything at all and then suddenly there it was. Just read the lessons carefully and go step by step don't start a new practice until you are totally comfortable with the previous one and you will be all right. Worrying about it will only produce stress and that makes the whole situation worse believe me I have been there.

What did u do? Think of me as a dank beginner in that case and please tell me what to start with. I think i am right abt going back to basics. Thats what I am gonna do. I guess the start wud be to just sit and do the I AM meditation and then after i am comfy with it move on to the spinal breathing or shud i just go ahead and think abt the energy moving up my spine irrespective of what i feel or not and then one day i'll just start feeling it. I think that makes sense cause my sensory system is rtight now too blocked to feel the subtle sensations which shud come with time.

HI Dan I've only been doing AYP for 8 months myself so I'm a beginner too. I think you've got it though, get really comfy with the meditation before you add anything else. When I say that I don't mean do the spinal breathing after the meditation, once you add the spinal breathing you always do that before the meditation.
Yogani puts all this much better than I can. Read all the lessons carefully and I am sure you will be OK.

Yes Dan, that is plenty good enough for now. Just 'remember' that feeling, a few times. That can stand in for 'feeling it'.
All the aspects of yoga help each other. Meditation helps the mind-body connection, so does asanas, so does this 'energy work' of feeling the perineum.
You may find some aspect frustrating and feel that you can only do a very primitive clunky version in the early stages. That is fine. Just let the frustration go. Have faith/confidence. It will fill out in time.
Best regards,
-David
