A great reply by Anthem got me to thinking of this topic.
As a generality meditation techniques (eg "Indian" in general or Buddhist ones) are aimed at kind of mind/spirit cleansing. Of course there are also some aimed at health (but less frequently taught).
Again as a theme I have studied with a couple of masters who believe that health comes from the spirit/shen/awareness/whatever lol returning to the body (and they have great healing records so they must be onto something). On this basis some meditation techniques are kind of 'in-body' and some more 'out-of-body' (and hence some have a healing (side-?)effect and some perhaps not so 'healthy').
So eg in the Theravada tradition there are some absolute meditation-geniuses who were not very healthy physically.
As a separate observation I have found that in Chinese terms qigong (of a sufficiently good standard) is perhaps a faster healer of many conditions (esp. ones where western medicine fails).
OK all this is kinda pre-amble and background to my curiosity on what is the experience of folks round here on AYP practices and recovery from (serious) illness?
