Dear Dan,
You asked... Any ayurvedic formulations etc that can be of some use?
Some herbs that stimulate the root chakra are: ashwagandha, haritaki, lotus root, and shatavari...
Ashwagandha is a indian tonic similar to chinese ginseng, but without the high cost and extreme heating effect. Precautions for its use are high Ama(toxins) in the body, and high Pitta(heat)...it tonifies the reproductive organs, stimulates muladhara, and is an excellent over all body builder/rasayana..Sattvic too.
Garlic increases sperm count, but is also Tamasic:which can create dullness of mind, OR groundedness, depending on your nature...it detoxifies ama, but it is also an irritant to the reproductive system, so while your sperm count may rise, it may not be a good common herb for those practicing yoga...
Bala (an indian tonic herb), and Saw Palmetto also tonify the male reproductive organs...
FYI Namaste- Ashwin

Chyavanprash is a very delicious sweet and spicy jelly that has tonic properties and is used as an herbal nutritional supplement. There are many brands of Chayavanprash (Chyawanprash) available and you may be able to find it in an Indian grocery in any major city. The Chyavanprash Special contains Makaradwajja which is a mercurial preperation that specifically works on Ojas. Makaradwajja is available from India and a google search should give you much more about these than I can link in this email.

Mercury? Holy cow, mercury? Are the mercury levels in that substance Makaradwajja really, really low? One would hope so since mercury is a terrible poison.
One nasty thing about it is that it is a cumulative poison-- it is eliminated so slowly that body levels of the poison tend to increase over time.

Ayurveda has studied herbology and alchemical preparation for thousands of years...the process of using mercury, considered the semen of Shiva, is linked with sulphur, the blood of Shakti, producing a non-poisonous medicine...sulphur IS the main ingredient that transforms mercury from a toxic substance into a Rasayana(tonic)...just like a good woman transforms a man into a loving being full of compassion & virtue.
Very symbolic, and practical...
No Fear- Ashwin

Wow. Thanks.
I suppose you'd want to be sure that what you have is processed from a really reliable source. In a way when you take that stuff you are entrusting your health to the people who prepare it. Like putting yourself in the hands of a surgeon. I mean, imagine if they didn't treat the mercury properly.
Do you take it Ashwin? Have you noticed good results?

Namaste, I can understand ur concern abt mercury but rest assured its not that bad when used in Ayurveda. My dad himself makes a medicine which has been handed over to him by his grandfathers which is a mercury based ayurvedic formulation which actually cures exzema comprehensively. No side effects whatsoever. SO much so that poisons like belladona and curare etc are also used in homeopathy which actually cure diseases without being poisonous in any way. There is much abt the body and its chemistry that we have to discover i guess :-)

Mercury? Holy cow, mercury? Are the mercury levels in that substance Makaradwajja really, really low? One would hope so since mercury is a terrible poison.
One nasty thing about it is that it is a cumulative poison-- it is eliminated so slowly that body levels of the poison tend to increase over time.

Makaradwajja is available from India and a google search should give you much more about these than I can link in this email.
