Hi Neesha, quote: Swimming in the ether My experience with ether:
I am constantly fed ether through my forehead...... I can feel it.......
While meditating .......I guess we breathe in to it
I find it really cool...........
I don't quite follow... Are these statements from things you have read, or are you talking about your experience?

Hi Neesha One day I was getting out of bed, and in the movement of my left hand I had the awareness of it moving through an Ether. The way I would describe this is experiencing the present moment in the movement of the body. It feels like swimming in air, this is often a description given by people who practice Tai Chi for instance. After I had that initial experience, which at the time I described to myself as moving in a field of time, like time itself was the ether and I am moving through it. I then started wanting to practice tai chi and chi kung a lot more. Slow Buddhist type walking meditation is also a good opportunity to practice it, and when one tunes in like this it changes the whole experience.
Thanks for reminding me about it. Louis |

Hi Loius,
this is what the others have spoken about
moving in stillness
yes this happens to everyone on the path
some say this occurs when you do too much
some say cut down on practices
I just continued with my stuff........except for me my entire body moves.......with the same feeling you are talking about........
This occurred in front of my Guru....everyone....they're okay with it and I guess so am I
I guess its the aura and the energies
The ether I am talking about is the invisible wind that I feel ABOVE MY HEAD, ON MY FOREHEAD.........its like the morning breeze......cold refreshing, revitilising air
IT IS NICE ..........when I am fasting I am more conscious of this............ |

Hi Neesha, quote: Neesha wrote: Hi Christi,

Sorry Neesha, I should have guessed. It looks like ether means both subtle energy and the background in which it moves. quote: Neesha wrote: Is this the stuff that actually feeds us?
I am beginning to wonder if it is too. I seem to have large amounts of the stuff pouring in through the top of my head when I am asleep. I can survive for weeks without physical food, and feel great, but if I don't get any sleep at night, I start breaking down pretty fast.

Hi Sadak, You are welcome for dinner anytime. I can even do curry and chapaties so you'd feel at home. (None of that bland English food).

Namaste to All:
Ether or Akasha is one of the Traditional Five Elements of India or Panchabhuta, and of particular interest to yoga sadhakas of past and present because it is the only one of the Five Elements which is not associated with the physical, material elements of creation like the other four elements: Earth, Fire, Air, and Water.
Instead, the Ether Element relates to hearing the Divine Sound (Brahman Nadam) of the Sacred Syllable (OM), to feeling the energetic vibrations of this sound (Pranava Nadam), to experiencing the Divine Consciousness or Sacred Presence within Ether, and so forth. Very interesting and intriguing!
Here are a few of my favorite sites for further discussion of the Indian Five Elements, and some cool graphics as well. Enjoy!
