The good people at Wat Mett#257; Forest Monastery recently released, in electronic format, a wonderful book called "Handful of Leaves: an Anthology from the Sutta Pitaka."
To my knowledge, this 2,276-page monstrosity is the single largest and best-organized English-language anthology of the Buddha's discourses freely available on the internet today.
For now, there is still no such thing as a complete, single-volume "Buddhist Bible." But if you're looking for something similar and you happen to have an eBook reader, this will be a valuable resource.
