I wrote this, actually, just now.

The Soluble Solution

Has anyone ever told you that you’re imbalanced and disordered?
A diseased bog of reduced chemicals and triggered mechanisms?
A malfunctioning organism of merely contingent, genetic account?

Has anyone ever told you who you are, or are supposed to be?
As if it were not really just supposed by others who can’t agree?
As if you’re bad for seeking good, although you don’t demand?

Has anyone ever told you that you’re bound to their limitations?
Acting like a bum or a coward, too busy hiding to save face?
Acting like you’re so special, too special to accept the truth?

Has anyone ever told you that you’re smart to being senseless?
And your own worst enemy, because you don’t pretend to know?
And arrogant and intimidating, because the truth will hurt them so?

Has anyone ever told you how they figured out how not to care?
All they have to do is swallow their own disappointment.
All they have to do is forget how frail we really are.

Has anyone ever told you about a miracle in a bottle?
A little, bitter pill to glaze you over in defeated resignation?
An engineered fact of life, that living’s no longer worth it?

Commentary:
[So many people tell me to take pills, get a job I’ll hate, even though I’ll hate myself, and be like them, etc. How are our emotions imbalanced? Because they do not do or get for us what we desire? Never mind that desire is very much like an emotion. Why should I not instead accuse the world of being imbalanced, for being unjust and wicked, for not providing enough for me, for the poor, for my friends, for my ideas, and for not satisfying enough of my whims and wishes? I do not believe anything is out of balance. Would I insult the faith, acceptance, and devotion of billions so? Would I presume that I really am smarter than the eons and the spirit? It is as if we all insist on stealing lies from each other in some deranged contest of appearing distinguished by our authorship. I know we need to “get by,” but for some of us, that means we have to face what everyone else turns their backs on. Otherwise, we could not forgive ourselves.]

Very strong, Anima. You are really doing some deep self-inquiry here.
