Recently I had an interesting experience while doing DM: my mind has the annoying habit of keeping a constant background soundtrack of any music I have heard recently, though I think DM has gradually reduced the frequency and obtrusiveness of this. Nevertheless, it still sometimes happens during DM, and I try to just not pay attention to it.
Recently, though, I had a weird experience: as the music was "playing" in my head, I got a sensation that I could feel the nerves actually doing this, mostly near my throat and the back of my neck and cerebellum area. Like I was observing the action of the nerves creating music as a dispassionate observer.
Now, I haven't felt this as clearly with the mantra itself, though I think maybe I've got some hint of it. Is this what Yogani means when he says that we will "feel" the om in the base of the brain, the ayam in the root-to-third eye circuit, etc.?
I guess I assumed for a long time that I would "hear" or "feel" the mantra, almost like a vibration, but could it be almost more like "observing" the mantra as different locations in the nervous system create it?
Sorry if this is vague or confusing; I was just happy to finally get some inkling of what it may mean, but also not sure I'm on the right track. Thanks for any experiences or ideas! |
