outdoors.

I always enjoyed inthe woods by a river... but any
place where you are safe to focus on your yoga. your
backyard, a friends yard, on a porch.

depends how big your town/city is.

since you are 'ocean' ... beach is fantastic.

some of the places I may suggest are: a quiet bank of a river, a
quiet beach, a lawn, backyard, etc. However, ideal time to practice
yoga and/or meditation is also very critical for these places. Sound
of the flowing water in the river, sound of the waves in the ocean or
the sound of ripples in the lake would be some of the ideal sounds
around. In my view, the most appropriate time would be "Brahm Murta -
- a couple of hours before dawn as well as around dusk. These
recommendations are based on my personal experience.

Others may be able to contribute more to this query as the
experiences can be as varied and large as infinite.

I like to practice outdoors under shade trees. I love sitting in
asanna near the base of tree. Often I feel as if the tree is
breathing along with me. In India many yogies like to do spiritual
practices in grave yards. I find it comforting to practice near a
quiet pond. A river bank is another place I enjoy doing outdoor yoga
practice.

You all gave me so much to think about. Unfortunate, for me I live in Los
Angeles, you can imagine how much traffic we get.
I live on a very busy road. It makes practing yoga at home distracting - too
noisey ( I live by the airport - argh!). But, in the process of looking for a place I
met someone who told me they practice outdoor yoga at Griffith Park, 4PM in
the afternoon. I love the idea of *yoga-ing in wooded areas and water. Mmm,
the sound of the breeze through the tees soothing and breathing with
me...Omg - I need to goo

If anyone esle is interested let me know.

I do too. Noisey at times, yes I know. I lived 34 years in
Westchester just 1 1/2 miles north of the LAX control tower. Most of
the worlds urban areas have high decible levels. This is true of
India too, even at Ramana Ashram in Tiruvanimalai. So what do we do?
Perhaps we should allow all of the clatter of life all around us
drive us evermore toward the attainment of the silence within. That
is the yogin's task. We are sadaks, so let us keep to our path. We
will reach our goal through persistence. The true treasures are
within. We ourselves are the treasure, and our task is to unlock the
shackles. Moksha ki jai!!!

A king once held a competition on painting. The subject was peace. Two paintings were eventually shortlisted. One painted a serene atmospere with springs, chirping birds, blooms, rainbow etc. The other one depicted chaos, thunder, lightening, flood, fire etc and in the middle of the scene was a tree which had a nest and there was a bird singing away to its little ones in perfect peace. I dont think we need guesses as to which one was finally selected. Finding peace in the midst of the chaos of life is the challenge and real yoga.

Brahma Muhurt is the best time for meditation. The sexual energy is at its peak at this time and one can transmute it to maximum benefit.

some of the places I may suggest are: a quiet bank of a river, a
quiet beach, a lawn, backyard, etc.

Others may be able to contribute more to this query as the
experiences can be as varied and large as infinite.

physical practices of "Yoga" can be done "out-side".....but real "Yoga" is to be done 'within'....... for which space and time has no limitations.......I hope u understand what I mean.......
