look for topic 'drugs' in the FAQ, even if you want to say that pot is not a drug.

There are many sadhu's in India (especially northern India) who use pot every day. How many of the pot users are able to live a normal life, stay conscious and still experience bliss (not happiness, but bliss) throughout the day ?

It seems okay to try it but dependence on it doesn't sound good to me.

My goal is to "make sure my solution itself does not become my problem".

regards,

The use of cannabis (and other substances) may be helpful for some to get a temporary expanded view. But, any artificially induced state is not the natural state.

Cannabis is legal here in Washington (Seattle), and I will make a batch of brownies about once a month to consume at various points. I have been meditating for almost five years with SB added, on and off, for the last two years. I would sum up the whole thing as follows:

1. In my experience, it greatly increases my awareness of energy flows – however, I don’t know if it actually increases the flow or I just become more aware of the energy then when I am sitting here at work. In fact, I have to be pretty careful with the dosage or I can start to overload. However, at the right level, it becomes easy to just sit back and ride out wave after wave of pleasurable energy.

2. Along with 1, it definitely increases my sexual desire – which can, I suppose, be either good or bad depending on your circumstance or point of view.

On the other hand, I don’t think it leads to any progress on the path – it’s the practices, and not the weed, that causes these flows in the first place. In fact, it would be easy to just eat brownies and sit back in a recliner and ride out the waves with my eyes rolled back – at the expensive of other obligations, interactions, etc. I have found that, although I can’t meditate when high, if I meditate at the tail end of the high
(four or five hours after eating), it does seem to enhance the visualization of SB and to deepen meditation.

Concerning #2, it has enhanced our sex life. However, I also find myself more drawn to pornography on the web than I would be without the brownies. I don’t regard this as very positive, so some self-discipline is necessary to avoid fallen into what could, I think, become a bit of a trap.

Yesterday first time I took cannabis in my life. I agree with SwamiX. My experience was same.
Naturally I can meditate very good and with more devotion. But with cannabis energy flow was very good but devotion was less.

I will try small amount after some days.

Lesson 307 – Hallucinogens and Yoga

In virtually all cases where an initial altered state is experienced, it will only be a preview, and not the onset of permanent spiritual transformation.

While the above may be true, it presumes that the reason for marijuana use by spiritual practitioners is to induce permanent spiritual transformation... which, for many may not be the case. Some may simply use it like another would use a beer, a glass of wine or a nice chocolate... with little intention other than to enjoy treating themselves to a pleasant sensory experience.

Love,
Carson

I've used it recently as a buffer for intense emotional pain, and it worked nicely for that. It also gave me insights and caused me to (momentarily) think and perceive differently. It also depressed me slightly, but the pain trade-off was worth it.

In the past, it's been a hindrance at times. There is a time and place for all things, and only you can decide when it's right and when it's wrong for you.

I think the word "use" is very subjective

It all comes down to personal preferences. No one can truly prevent you from doing it if it helps you. If you feel it might be getting in the way of progress, it probably is.
