The real surrender is not these:
The boy lowers his head to Krishna for the toy he wants to gain.
The girl prostrates before the Buddha to rid of her pain.
Even giving and obeying is not that--
Do you own in giving? Don't you master in obeying?
The real surrender is a death,
A total and willing death.
We die to really live.
Tonight Ma tried me.
I cried, I threw up, I rolled on the ground, and I said "Yes"
But, O, I did not die--the Gate was just an image.
I raged, I know, but I must have refused!
Ma, I see:
The death is not in my hands,
The Gate is in the very Life. |
