i walked two dogs today that wanted to pull me in their eager, forward direction
but i had to restrain them with my calm, dominant, pervasive presence--
for it is i that walk them, and not them that walk me.

soon, they settled down and trotted lightly in perfect pace with my stride
i constantly affirmed their allegiance and recognition of my alpha status
by making guttural sounds and resonant echoes of camaraderie.

and i thought: this is how God is walking me
though i want to surge ahead and run freely with no leash
i must first abide and follow the steps of the Master,
then perhaps He will set me free...

...once my training is complete.
