Every time I use cannabis I'm so amazed at how powerful the experience is compared to other substances. It's like you have partly awoken from a dream. I'm amazing that something so powerful is casually used and people don't really seem to talk this particular effect very much.
Are you experiencing a mini-awakening every time you use cannabis? What exactly are you experiencing? The astrals in a partial way?

When I use cannabis I experience long periods of (sometimes extremely) heightened awareness (often lasting well beyond the end of the influence of the substance). I don't think it's a coincidence that cannabis is often called "Shiva."

Cannabis = short preview, with a letdown once the euphoria fades.
Deep meditation = full movie, including director's cut, bonus features, and an all-access backstage pass. |

How long have you smoked it?
I only experienced heightened awareness in the first few months to a year. After that, it became very normal and non-powerful in the sense you're mentioning. The high declined rapidly, in other words. |

In my experience the effects have always been unpredictable and wide ranging, and have changed as I continue with practices.
I almost always experience heightened awareness as well, and many more effects such as heightened pranic activity in the body, increased sense of energy exchange between myself and others near me, telepathy (unintended), increased feelings of love and the heart opening up, bliss, the "Light", a lot of effects related to energy and subtle awareness basically.
That's a lot of the good stuff really, but there have been times where the effects were more burdensome to my progress than they were beneficial, so it's not something I personally rely on as a tool for an awakening, though I have had plenty of those seemingly revelatory moments where I felt a little more awakened, only to fall into a deep sleep after a few a hours and wake up more or less the same as before.
I do enjoy Cannabis and still use it frequently, but I've learned it's not something that will do my spiritual clean up work for me. Most substances are kind of like feather dusters in that way, wiping up the dust and spreading it simultaneously. You might be able to see the surface for a brief moment while the dust has spread, but it soon collects on the surface once more. And it's true what they say, in my experience the more enjoyable and permanent awakenings have come with practices. |

A profound metaphorical analysis. |

Well, I only seem to use it a few times a year, so I never really have tolerance.
Although the longer I've been into spiritual practices the more interesting cannabis is come to think about it. |

Being a natural substance i think that cannabis is there for a reason, opening the different doors of perception is a common way of looking at it. I resonate complete with Chaz (great post), your comments hit it right on the nose, although as we know from these lessons we all have individual blockages so i guess it will effect different people in different ways. if you look deep and often enough inside your self you will find your answer. For my own experience i say that for the case of Cannabis, you can definitely say "less is more".

haha great comments guys :D
in my experience, cannabis is great for mini-vacations away from the workaday life. rather than the train, work, sleep quotidian, it really opens up the mysterious nature of the world even when you're stuck in the grind of life.
but that experience fades with tolerance, and i find that the negative effects tend to outweigh the positive effects after about two weeks. |
