In Tantra, what is the significance of the fifth makar, Maithun (sex)?
In Tantra, why is Maithun (sex) the fifth makar and not something else like meditation, chanting or keeping silent etc. Also, in Maithun (sex) a lot of emphasis is laid on mool-bandha (stopping ejaculation). Why is this done? Why so much importance given to stopping the flowing out of the energy? Is it because the path to higher consciousness is through this conserved (Maithun - sex) energy? Is Maithun (sex) a form of meditation which can lead to higher consciousness?
